What some have to consider here:

in the last couple of month it has became very popular to use some shader addons and tweaks.

Even cloud sizes have been changed by addons and tweaks.

What I see in some shots (which are really horribe) is of course not state of the art of AS16 + ASCA.

I haven't seen such horrible clouds in the last month I use AS16+ASCA. Hifi support has to be contacted in these cases.

I have used shader tools some years ago and destroyed my sim in every case. Even deleting shader caches or backing up textures do not help as there will be made changes in several (cfg) files.

So, using such addons and tweaks will help for a special case or in conjunction with certain addons, but be aware that you make big changes to your sim!

Really!!! What shader tools were these?

For me shader mods are most needed in p3d if you don't want horrible clouds, be they default, REX, FEX or AS.

I still think 88€ is a hell of a price to change from ASN + Softclouds to AS2016 + ASCA...

Edit: Just saw that I get a discount at simmarket because I bought ASN there. That's fair.

Now it's 66€....

I have purchased and downloaded some minutes ago. Is it necessary to:

1) Restore original P3D Textures?  Currently using REX TD4/SC.

2) Uninstall ASN?

Anyone?

Problem solved.

All the complaining is not going to change the product price or look.

+1

I use PTA shaders with Adamski's HD mod in P3D 3.3.5 and As16 + ASCA. Wouldn't go back to anything else....

Complaints can be useful for prospective buyers imho, as is praise.

Perhaps I'm blind, but I don't see any issue at all with your first screenshot of the ramp at EGLL. The amount of twilight in the sky looks just about right for the latitude of London in early July at 23:00 local.

If you are referring to the purple line on the windscreen in the second image, I'm pretty sure that is not a bug, but a feature - and a rather clever one at that, considering that the aircraft has entered cloud in close proximity to thunderstorm activity (based on the radar image). Do you know what it is?

No...purple line not problem... Bright colours it's a problem!

When starting the sim, which weather setting should i use? Default is 'fair weather'. Should i keep using that, or something else? I see there is something called ActiveSky weather theme aswell. Fair weather includes clouds by default. Does AS16 remove those if there are no clouds irl?

Yes, the purple line appears to be St. Elmo's fire. Not sure if that effect is being generated by AS16 or P3D, but it looks quite realistic.

I'm afraid something isn't coming across well in the screen cap of your first pic at EGLL, as far as what you find objectionable. In fact, we had an almost identical r/w sky here last night around 21:00 local (at latitude 42N): scattered cumulus and cirrus, with rather bright summer twilight that was almost the exact shade of purplish-blue shown in your screen cap.

Perhaps it looks very different on your monitor, but in the screen cap, I just don't see what "bright colors" you are referring to.

The electric ramp lighting looks rather intense, but I would assume that is part of whatever EGLL scenery you are using.

EDIT: I have been viewing your photos on my phone. When looking at them on my desktop browser, they do appear brighter than average for 23:00 in London. (Though I have been in northern Scotland in mid summer and it would be fair to say that the sky is at least that bright, even after midnight.)

Jim, I took the screen shots in question, not this npole guy. The shots are totally unedited. As stated above, I also posted shots in this thread that look great.

I was referring to the images in post #143 above.

Orbx FTX Global with HD trees and OpenLC EU and Vector and PILOTs Mesh and PrecipitFX ... clouds and sky textures all from ASCA but limited to 1024 DX, P3D texture cap is 4096.   ASCA is set to Global Auto.

I've been able to increase some settings in AS16 that I was not able to do in ASN because of performance issues.  In AS16 I moved up to 5 (which I believe is actually 6 layers) and increased cloud distance to 100mi.  There was significant visual difference (better) moving up from cloud layers 3 to 5.

Cheers, Rob.

Mate do you have any idea as to what hifi has altered to be able to get solid fps and smoothness through dense clouds using 4xsgaa?

Really happy about that.

Your thoughts on as16 with upcoming Rex sky force 3D?

Mike

Liked Rob's video (and you can always count on him to stick the landing, especially with that Yoko yoke!). We need more streaming vids to see how things really look. For those wondering about AS16 alone with REX textures, I found this. It's in Spanish, but illustrative, especially of overcast conditions transitioning to broken, fly-through effects, etc.
