November 8, 20169 yr Exciting times indeed, and just for our readers, we are in contact with Austin Meyer and will conduct an interview regarding X-Plane in general, XP11 and what the future holds. Stay tuned. Thank you, looking forward to it. Any idea on when it might be published (a few weeks?)
November 8, 20169 yr You really can't gauge X-plane on Avsim as it's only recently started getting traction here. As I recall, there was plenty of discussion and traction in the leadup and months after XP10's release five year ago. (Holy CRAP!) Unfortunately the product lost a healthy amount of that traction after the first impressions started settling in during the early days of the product. It's taken a long time and a lot of work on XP10 to regain some of the initial excitement and make good on the promise many folks were holding it to back in the day. So far, I think Laminar Research is doing a better job of generating excitement and interest without setting too high of a level of expectation. I told myself I would not get excited about X-Plane 11, and so far I've been able to hold true to that statement. (*once bitten, twice shy)... but I am pleased with some of the elements we've seen so far. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised with XP11 - not let down by letting my hopes and expectations "fill in the blanks" of the marketing material they put forth. We'll see... we'll see...

November 8, 20169 yr Moderator Great! Any plans to field questions from forum users? Ha ha, he'd run a mile when he saw all the "When are you going to improve the weather" questions
November 8, 20169 yr Ha ha, he'd run a mile when he saw all the "When are you going to improve the weather" questions Uhmm...you mean nobody interested in ATC? Riccardo Viecca
November 8, 20169 yr "Will ATC vector you around big cumulonimbii in the winter season in X-Plane 11?" "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
November 8, 20169 yr Uhmm...you mean nobody interested in ATC? Guys for a proper ATC I highly recommend Pilot2ATC. I know it's not cheap and the addon is still in Alpha, but once it's finished it's going to be amazing. You get the option to speak with the ATC using your voice, or you can use your co-pilot to speak with the ATC. It also has many more useful features under it' sleeve which are very useful. My only grind for now that the Navdata is not updateable and we could use a better in-game interface. Right now, if you don't have a second monitor, you can detach part of the program and have it displayed on top of your sim, but granted it looks a bit ugly. I'm sure if more of us ask Dave to remade that part he will look into it. The support from him is amazing. "Will ATC vector you around big cumulonimbii in the winter season in X-Plane 11?" No, because that cumulonimbus will probably disappear once you get close to it. Another reason why a proper weather implementation is needed. November 8, 20169 yr I would already be glad if it had Cbs :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
November 9, 20169 yr Well by all means post your suggestions, but I can tell you we have quite a collection of questions to ask already. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict

November 9, 20169 yr Questions: 1) When will we have proper Moon and Sun ephmeris in X-Plane? Will it be in XP11 ? 2) Will somewhere along it's journey XP11 weather get an update from XP10, allowing for depiction of convective clouds, Cb, Tcu, and frontal type nimbus systems ? 3) Knowing you are going to redesign the complex turboprop modeling thanks to your own rw experience with your private aircraft, do you think you can take the time to properly model the much simpler effects of altitute in asphirated engines, so that our C172 if flying at 30k feet will have it's engine "starved" ... and mixture control closer to real what it does irl ? Thx This what about icing you forgot ? what about the taildraggers during windy take offs ? Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 9, 20169 yr This what about icing you forgot ? what about the taildraggers during windy take offs ? Hehe, I left those for you :-) Icing is simulated, although poorly... The effects of wind on ground are particularly noticeable in free-castoring taildraggers, but they affect all aircraft... Let's hope they also do something about both those items. And there's that overdone sensitivity in the rotary wing flight dynamics, making ANY helicopter axially roll on it's back just with a slightest "heavier" application of cyclic roll, something that makes X-Plane helicopters still very far from what we have, for instance, in ELITE and DCS... and even in Flight Gear Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
