It's going to be a long rest of 2019, that's for sure

Lets hope MS is generous and involve people in the beta, get a community/forum up and running, keep giving us news, roadmaps and videos to drool over, and maybe a demo version (I played the FSX demo to death)...

They will, starting on august. The issue is we want it now. LOL

I never said that developers should try to maintain backward compatibility. I said that they will hopefully transfer their Prepar3D aircraft add-ons to the new MSFS. Same happened with P3D v4 from FSX aircraft. They are not backward compatible with FSX, these were new versions or greatly different versions and they didn't start from zero to make them. Don't expect that these developers will trash what they've created so far and start from zero. If you wish them to not develop versions of their current Prepar3D aircraft for the new MSFS, this means we won't have add-ons of this class for many many years, something I don't think anyone wishes. Don't be afraid of the fact that you can use something already developed, adapt it and optimize it to a new platform.

When fsx launched we didn't have many, and this was a completely different time in flight simulator, much less developed. When FS2000 was released, I was fine to just fly the default C172. Times progresses and needs too. You can't expect the hardcore flight simmer of 2019 to go back on flying a default GA or a MSFS default tubeliner. This will not last.

When p3d launched, I kept using both p3d and fsx until all my add-ons were ported, so I will amlost certainly do the same with the new MSFS. I don't say I won't buy it, here we are discussing of how its future will be successful in the long term, not for the first few months.

Why would I not want pmdg, majestic and other study level planes in the new fs? I just don't want backwards compatibility with old code just so these devs can port their planes faster. I'd rather they build from the ground up and take advantage of all the new technology and features. If that takes 3-5 years to deliver a top notch product, then I'm all for it

I agree, but devil’s Advocate - what if that caused some of them to go bust?

Survival of the fittest I guess

I’ve noticed everyone likes a capitalistic free market...

...unless they are on the losing end of it at some point.

Here's hoping it will be released in time to get into someone's Xmas stocking this year...

Please.....................Just get it released before I die.................Many thanks

I would also like to ask for a couple of additional years to play with it after it's released...

Gotta' say, I'm excited about this!

From Asobo's website:

As the first independent studio involved in the Microsoft HoloLens program, Asobo is now a world leader of the holographic entertainment.

(Sigh) Where’s Geordie when you need him to fix the holodeck.

Ah...are you telling me this is the same company that is going to make the new MS simulator as real as it gets?

I played their game " A Plague Tale" a few weeks ago and artistically these guys are top guns. And now watching the video with the planes they created for "The crew 2" I`m super excited (I know we don´t know nothing about their flight dynamics but they look goooood.

I'll await until it is public knowledge who the Studio is 😛 We already had a week long of theories about AS meaning Aerosoft..
Either way just because a study does a type of game doesn't mean they are not capable of doing another 🙂

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

Given how that latest press release reads, I don't buy that some disconnected French company is making the game.

Helping with assets or features? Sure, but not entirely developing it.
