Best non scenery / non aircraft add ons today

Featured Replies

Just built a new system and am beginning the long and arduous task of piecing together a fresh P3D install. I bet I have 100 addons to get through. I've got tons of ORBX and all the airport and aircraft addons I need.

What are the best addons today for weather, environment, etc?

Think REX, GSX, Activesky, tomato shade, etc etc etc.

The most realistic I think is ASP4, ENVTEX/SHADE with ASCA for clouds (envtex can integrate asca)

For navigation: Little NavMap , freeware and Alex has his support forums here at Avsim.

For performance: FFTF Dynamic , allows for dynamically configuring the Fiber Frame Time Fraction variable based upon the user's priorities.

For performance: RivaTuner Statistics Server , freeware that allows for limiting P3d's framerate without using the sim's internal limiter (that creates look-ahead frames requiring more CPU power that could be used for other tasks).

Have fun!

Another question : what sceneries to install ? what sceneries can be combined ? Makes that sense ? For example: Orbx California north + US Cities X San Francisco AS + KSFO Flightbeam ?

What alone, what combined ?  Or US Cities X Chicago + Chicago X Drzewiecki Design + Chicago Airports DD ?? It will be more and more difficult to choose which scenery and/or which combination of sceneries to install. There are much more examples, the offers for Flight Simulators are meanwhile very great. A list about compatibility between different sceneries would be most helpful !

Lorby's Addon Organizer.

A couple of lesser known addons that I find indispensable:

WeFly's Autopilot GPS. This adds a fully functional Autopilot panel to any aircraft, even those that may not originally have an autopilot installed. You just have to go into the aircraft.cfg and change the line for autopilot installed from 0 to 1. Same if you want to add an autothrottle to almost any plane! It also has a GPS, but I drag the window up to the top until only the Autopilot panel is showing, as I use the GTN750. You can get it at PCAviator for $10.00 Note: it says that it's for P3Dv1 and 2, but it works perfectly in 3 and 4 as well! (3 and 4 are mentioned in the readme.)

Second is Groundhandling V6.0 By Rob Barendregt. This is a freeware gauge that you can get at Flightsim.com. Just run a search for the file rcbgh-60.zip  This gives you a little gauge that can control your taxi speed for you as well as give you a steerable pushback!

I can't fly without these little gems! I immediately add them to any new aircraft!! Check 'em out!

Absolutely, 100% true!  I've lost count of the number of people who were convinced they had the best weather/weather textures with others products and some even got hostile defending them, and then tried the AS/ASCA/EVNTEX and THEY ALL expressed amazement.  Flight simmers... arrrggghhh!!!  LOL!!!!

Lorby's Addon Organizer has to be Number 1 mandatory requirement tool.

Nothing is more true!!!

And I'd certainly add Chaseplane.  I simply won't fly without it!

Hi Folks,

Ditto - (ASP4/ASCA/ENVTEX/ENVSHADE) - I haven't found a better sky cocktail yet...

Here is another vote for this weather combo.

My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet

Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

Chase Plane.

FS2024

Best add on I have purchased in a couple of years is Avliasoft EFB 2. GA or airlines, it brings my flying to a whole new level.
