We are lucky that Microsoft has become consumer friendly in the past years. I think that Microsoft and indeed Asobo have looked and truly realised that even though the sim market may be more niche than say, Fortnite, its still very relevant. Simulating something such as a 737 in as realistic environment as possible is kinda cool and absolutely challenging. These flying machines are still engineering milestones for mankind, it's why we're such a focused and enthusiastic bunch eh? What they're doing here for us will no doubt filter 'up' into simulators for real pilots and beyond.. their transparency so far though is pretty commendable, smart and very much appreciated.. Still need to fix lights above lamp post level, getting lit windows in those tall buildings in the photogrammetry cities has yet to be shown convincingly. Let's hope they find a way otherwise you get a mass of dark buildings. But it still looks stunning and it would be easy for 3rd part devs to fix. I mean the space needle is an injected model which could quite easily be lit up, but they've not got around to it yet. . Edited October 25, 20196 yr by dtrjones

October 25, 20196 yr Not something that I want per se, but wildfires based on real life events could be a nice detail to add (or volcano eruptions). Would definitely make route planning a bit more dynamic and realistic. Former MSFS Alpha Tester, current member of the MSFS Stream Team.
October 25, 20196 yr In other times, I also felt like a Beta Tester from subLOGIC 1980. No internet, no phone, no fax, just post office or amateur radio. It was at the release of the version for FS1 - Flight Simulator. My TRS-80 CP200 hardware using TDK cassette tape, 10 inch monochrome monitor (Philco tv) and a K7 National Panasonic recorder. Today very optimistic about the expectations of the FS2020. It was worth this coexistence in recent years.
October 25, 20196 yr I hope they put lights on multi-story apartment buildings and hotels. Those usually have lights on balconies. I also hope they include all glass skyscrapers that reflect their surroundings. Houston TX has a few a them. Theres also outlined buildings like in Dallas TX and other places.(just search for Dallas skyline or Dallas bank one building at night) Im sure they'll do it if possibble. really I think it would help to use more whitish lights to light up the downtown buildings. they're a weird yellow due to the copper streetlights. This is pure speculation but MS might use the new FS as a showcase to demonstrate what's possible with their Bing data and Azure AI (could be of interest for their corporate users and companies). It's like a giant benchmark they're making for every future game. Former MSFS Alpha Tester, current member of the MSFS Stream Team.

The story of how this project was originally a Seattle tech demo shown to Microsoft executives gave it away in my opinion. They wanted to make a virtual world but needed a way to fund it...boom, FS2020. Just my speculation.

In many countries the lights are gradually turned off as the workers go home until by 10pm there are few lights on at all.
