FSX had a default G1000?

Yes, sure. It even had procedures and GPS approaches.

Good stream.  I like what they are saying and I'm confident that most of the issues I have with MFS at launch will be addressed in time by this awesome team.

The future seems so bright!  😎

It's a ridiculous expectation

Only ridiculous to you because it is not what you had hoped to hear. It likely will progress over time to become what most people hope for. It is also clear that the speculation we have seen over the past year is just the tip of the iceberg. LOL

It seems to me that just like current and past sims, in the end the real quality and detail is going to come from 3rd party developers.

I hope you're not suggesting or alluding, that the real quality, will only come from 3rd party developers - because, to be honest, I find that statement incredible arrogant and quite frankly really insulting on behalf of the developers.

I'm a little bewildered of why you continuously put forth the negative aspects?! I mean - comon... look at what Asobo and their partners have put together here... It's absolutely incredible. We could only have dreamed of being offered this kind of platform for the future of flight simming.

Great stream. Thank you, Asobo for doing this. I look forward to the monthly streams going forward.

Sorry for this - Goodnight people!

Sorry Ron.....I dont know how that got Your name in the quote.

Sorry you are worked up. I actually think that These guys have done a great job. At some point folks just have to understand that 1. the world is a big place 2. Designing cockpit electronics and systems is very complicated. 3. Weather is a very specific science and add to the taking all that data and making it work on about a ka-zillion different computer is mind boggling. I don't know how folks expect them to do all that and more and to get it ready for release in the next 5 days. As an example I have be doing this for many many years and a top complaint has been ATC. In all that time, no one and I mean no one has been able to make that work as in real life. It it were possible it would have been done and someone would be very wealthy for the effort. One last point, I could care less about you opinion of what I said. Just because some one see's something different than you does not today or ever make their view negative.

Jayne did an excellent job as the interviewer, with precise and to the point questions. Thanks to her, it  was not an exercise in coarse promotion.

They answered many of my own questions.  Not always as I would have liked it though 😉 !

There were obviously some change of orientation since June, 2019.  We are back to the old FSX/P3D scheme of a broad platform, not totally ready at launch (e.g. their telling embarrassment about the A/P issue or the lack of cirrus),  waiting for 3rd party aircraft developers to accomplish its potential as a sim (Neuman was very clear on that). Nothing new under the sun.

One question missing was about an in-game scenery editor.

Only vague hints  about seasons or helis. The XBox version seems on its way out which is for me a good thing, let them work on more important issues.

Looking forward for the next session in one month.

I was also listening for that, and it seemed to me that they were going to leave some of that to 3rd parties to deliver.. so the default planes may simply be whatever they are at pesent..

Kind of like what we have seen in the past.. where no one really flies the default airplanes.. after a2a and PMDG do their thing..

IMO, many (but not all) of the default GA aircraft are very good. None with “A2A level” depth perhaps, but neither are they junk. There are several that I know I will be using on a regular basis in the release version. A few are somewhat spoiled at the moment by a couple of nasty autopilot bugs that arose in the transition from Alpha to Beta, but I’m pretty confident that those will be fixed in the release version

All in all a very well managed webcast. These gents are professionals, know what they are doing, know the envelope of feasibility, and know where they are going.

From my side, I realized that there is a boundary between having Autopilots that mimic the real autopilot of a given aircraft verses a generic autopilot that more or less does the work for all aircraft.  The generic approach worked OK for FSX because of the simpler approach to modelling. but, now that the default aircrafts are quite a bit more complex and closer to the rel thing, they are having lots of issues with a fix for the AP reported on a given aircraft, the solution breaks other things in other aircrafts. That is a tough one, really.

One approach to tackle this would be to create internal mini-product lines where a handful of folks work on a given family of aircrafts that use common things (autopilot as an example) and give them freedom to grow it as it is in real life. However that's the territory of the 3P developers: A2A, PMDG, Majestic, the Mad-dog, etc. etc. ; That's what they do better than anyone else.

Sebastian seemed a bit iffy on whether to accept there was a stability problem for some of the planes?

I think sometimes they must feel some of these problems that pop up become like walls for them to struggle over.

I suppose we could just turn on the legacy fsx physics while the aircraft is in cruise flight?😁  To smooth out its movements.

Or would that be a cop out for those with 'realistic' standards?

I also liked the idea of world updates.

Same here but I would have liked them to define what they mean by a "region". Is that a continent, country, state/county, etc.?

The default planes are going to continue to receive improvement post-release. Where did you get the understanding that they will be whatever they are at present?

The Garmin implementation is kinda weird currently. With certain suites in the default planes, it's almost up to payware GTN 750 functionality from previous sims, with others, there's totally basic stuff that just doesn't work. Hard to say if this is working as intended or just not finished.

Can you say on which ones it's working very well?

That is fine by me... I hope they get improved, for sure.. 🙂

But, in the video interview today, it was made clear that they did not want to go too far with "perfecting" the default aircraft, and rather leave that task to the 3rd parties..

If they can get the autopilots and the Garmin avionics working correctly in the GA aircraft, I'll happily forgive them for not having an operational "Seat Belts" button in the airliners 😉
