I don't really want to buy a toy aeroplane and then have my computer fly it.

This is the deepest thing I've ever heard you say.  Congrats!

On the plus side, if Harrison Ford uses it, that should mean he'll be on the centreline.

But will he be lined up for the runway or the taxiway?  I couldn't resist an opening like that Chock.

Meanwhile, i can get 200 FPS in default p3d, and fly all day in 40 fps vr in a complex airliner (with systems that actually work properly)And

If everything is working so smashingly well with P3D, then why are you even in this forum?

But we’ve been told for 6 months that this is God’s own sim. Based on what some alpha testers have been posting, people have deleted their X-plane and p3d installs.

Now we hear the “it’s just a default” excuse being rolled out. The backpedalling seems strong on this sub right now.

This was always going to be the case. It’s just a sim, not a miracle. Keep P3D or X-plane as an option for your airliner flying for now. That 787 looks like fun, and i’m looking forward to testing it out, but it’s not the sort of product that instantly renders the PMDG P3D aircraft fleet obsolete, despite what some around here would have you believe.

If someone deleted something then that's their fault. But it is better than competitors offering. You are comparing payware costing more than MSFS itself.

And give me break with study level BS, most of you complaining about it never even use half of what's there. How could we ever fly a plane if the cabin lights switch is inop.

Most of the important features needed for flying the plane is there.

Man, that's pretty savage. 🙂

I enjoyed the video quite a bit. There doesn't appear to be any low-grade porpoising caused by the autopilot, and there are quite a few nice features for a default aircraft. I think Asobo struck a good balance between complexity and approachability.

For sure. I mean it was a horrendous struggle for us to show that newcomer on Twitch how to even turn on the autopilot on the 787 and get close to being able to land. I understand that the default planes aren’t necessarily entirely for people on these boards. That’s perfectly okay! It’s the reason why PMDG exists.

Look at this landing. No nose nod'ing at all.

From the video this 787-10 looks to be a fabulous looking addition. I'm really impressed with the visuals both inside and out, and though some are complaining about some functions missing I think it is very impressive for a default aircraft, even though it is part of the "premium" package.

However, though it is not nodding up and down, there are so many obvious problems with the flight model of this 220+ tons (full load) and around 170 tons minimum weight simulation it is hard to know where to start. I don't want to be a nuisance so I'll leave it there, but if enough people are curious then I can explain, but it is a bit like hitting one's head against a brick wall.

I'll say again that it looks wonderful.

I have my popcorn ready for the 18th for sure!

Maybe not all of them, but you're correct, there were a large number of people in the testing who were saying (here on Avsim, frequently) it was the best thing since sliced bread.

I still think it is the best thing since sliced bread.... the visuals cannot be beaten.  Some I'm sure someone will quote me on this on the 18th with some scenery bug (they're out there!)  But as a base sim.....mmmm YUMMM!  Gimme some A2A, PMDG, Justflight, RXP, Active Sky and we'll be sittin pretty.

But what about that wing flex?It was nice to see👍

Glad I held out pre-ordering the sim after I saw this video.

Most streams and videos I've watched yesterday after the release build NDA was lifted were extremely dissapointing

Game-breaking stuttering and bugs such as failure to align with the localizer are still very much present even in the release build.

Definitely not worth paying 170 dollers for an unfinished product...

Unless you're keen in paying to be a beta tester.

Would you say P3D is a finished product?

May all your landings be safe ones!

Ricardo, that’s a stupid post, even for you.

I’m here because it’s possible to like and fly more than one sim at a time.

- I have Prepar3d v5 HF2 set up beautifully for VR flying. It’s the best-looking sim i’ve ever used, and works very nicely for flying complex aircraft like the Maddog.

- On August 18th, another game-changing sim enters the fray. I’m probably more excited by MSFS’s release than I have been for any flightsim that’s come before it. But i’ll be using it for a very different type of flying compared to how I use P3D.

It’s honestly not that complex, but I’ll say it again. You’re allowed to fly MSFS, plus P3D and/or XP11, and maybe some other sims like DCS as well. There’s really no reason you have to choose just one - rather, use the sim that’s best for the job.

For each complainer, I must say don’t buy if it doesn’t meet your standards.  I will load it as soon as allowed.  There is no doubt there will be some bugs but I am confident they will be fixed.

Meanwhile my P3D v5 will patiently wait as a great backup with a well crafted 737, Airbus 320,  B78X, AOA 182 and others. No telling how long or frequent the wait.  It will eventually join my LDS767 in the boneyard.  Just another fond memory.
