August 18, 20205 yr I got everything downloaded OK, but the game wont launch. Makes me watch a lame movie for about a minute or 2. Then tells me to press any key to continue. Then tells me it is looking for updates. Halfway along the progress bar for that it just dissappears and nothing is showing in task manager. I've done it 3 times now, restarting my PC in between each time. I know I need to upgrade my graphics card, but everything else is above spec afaik. I thought I would just need to run it on low settings until I get a new graphics card. Calum Watt

It will eventually check for updates and ask you to confirm downloading the game. How long should i wait would you think ? Its over 1hour now with just the blue bar frozen and the TBM Thanks Michael Moe Michael Moe

Try the following: Go to the MS Store, update Xbox Game Bar, restart the installer as an administrator, and see if the issue happens again.
August 18, 20205 yr I was just recently able to start (afte4 waiting for W10 v2004 to install, a last minute upgrade decision). Currently slow going at about 60Mbps (10 Mbps faster than my official service rate). Only about 5Gb so far, but smooth. I'll see if I can stay up until I get past the 30Gb wall, then off to bed. August 18, 20205 yr No problems here. MS store downloaded and installed all in an hour. You will need about 10min to go through the control bindings. There is some duplicates I dont like and will cause problems if you dont clear them out or reassign them. August 18, 20205 yr Seems quite a few of us run into this "frozen blue bar problem", myself included. What struck me is that Microsoft Store showed the sim as "installed" right from the beginning (inluding a "Play" button), although I had just switched on my PC for like 3 minutes and not even started the actual download. Had just done the predownload a few days before. Pressing "Play" right away started the game startup screens, followed by the "click any key to continue screen", and then this infamous blue progress bar stuck already at an estimated 20%. It simply COULD not have downloaded 20% within these few minutes, so after some time with no progress I closed the program. Repeated this a few times, tried a few of the zendesk hints, restarting, emptying the appdata cache, resetting the MS store etc, all to no avail. What finally did the trick was completely uninstalling the sim (indeed it already showed up under the installed Windows apps) and then restarting from the store. The installation bar that finally came up had nothing to do with the blue bar, but is a grey bar showing downloaded percentage. All things seem good now, 90 minutes for the download, all done now so going for a first look.
August 18, 20205 yr Hit the launch button at midnight, installed in about an hour and 15. Flew my obligatory over the house flight (Asobo kindly upgraded my home to a sizeable mansion from its more humble real roots, and planted me some extra trees in the back yard) found out that Harrisburg PA, my closest medium sized city is actually done in photogrammetry, so I wept tears of joy, since it's never even looked close to correct in any other simulator ever (although Blackshark's ai does think that Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station is a series of oil storage tanks, which is bizarre, cause that was literally the only thing that FSX/p3d got right, go figure.) Swore at the controls, since I haven't taken the time to set them up yet. I like it! going to bed.

But what about location ? its default at c:/users/etc for the package ? I do have new apps and the predownload 1GB at another drive. I chooses O:\/Michael for this package download . Hopefully its not a mess Thanks Michael Moe Edited August 18, 20205 yr by Michael Moe Michael Moe

First I started downloading MSFS directly on D drive and stopped it after 5gb download. Now am downloading it to external hard drive and reached about 85 gb of 95.15gb. Once download completes will install it to MSFS folder on D drive. Hope am doing it right?
