August 25, 20205 yr Very cool. There are methods to extract 3d models from Google Earth or Maps, but there are also loads of models on 3D warehouse. It shouldn't be long before you can convert such models with MCX and place them in the sim very easily, it's already in the works. Edited August 25, 20205 yr by fs4fun Barry Friedman

August 25, 20205 yr My biggest concern with this. Is it violating any terms or conditions you agreed to with Google? I can see potential C&Ds over something like this. Fantastic work though! August 25, 20205 yr A free-ware community effort on a project like this would be amazing to see. I would definitely pitch in to make the mfs world a better place. Divide the world into regions and the community can focus on certain parts of the world. Could somebody please share a tutorial on how to do this so for those who are interested can learn. Fantastic work though! That was my thought too. Even if distributed as freeware, is this technically legal? Is it any different than using Google Maps imagery for X-Plane orthos? ALSO: This reminds me. We very much need a website (or forum section) exclusively for publishing freeware MSFS creations, much like x-plane.org and their forums (minus their marketplace). Fantastic work though! Probably. I also imagine Microsoft doesn't want their Bing showcase to be pushed aside.
