"Your bandwidth too low....."

Featured Replies

Happened twice now, start a flight just before it loads in "Your bandwidth is too low, you have been switched to offline mode".  I'm on a wired 200GB connection and my speeds are just fine...

Is this a bug?

Thanks

Is it that true, that you're automatically switched off?. No user control?.

Probably just a blip somewhere along the line between you and MS, rather than anything to do with actual speed.  I've had this three times, once I had lost our broadband connection locally, but the other times it was still working and I re-enabled Bing Imagery and the scenery filled in within moments, so just a blip.  It was quite interesting to see the offline layer, which is quite poor, but just about does the job if this happens.

Strange.  I really do have a slow connection at 6.5 mbps (yes, it took two days to download MSFS! 🙄) but when mine says my bandwidth is too low, it gives me the option to ignore and continue.

No option for me, just switched over.  I went into data settings and enabled the options again, then it happened again!  Did a reboot for good measure and problem went away, so just a blip it seems.

I haven't seen this warning yet, but I'm wondering what the impact of bandwidth is when it isn't too low. In other words, are there only two options - option 1 being too low (warning), and option 2 being good (no warning)?

I'm not getting warnings, but I can increase my bandwidth by upping my internet plan, and switching out some of my older Ethernet cables and switches. I currently have a 200mbps plan, but I have some older cat5 and a 10/100 switch between my rig and the router. I can update all of that and even pay for a faster plan, but I don't want to mess with it if it isn't going to improve anything.

A number of streamers have had this the past few days. Had this this morning.

This happened to me once, but I had the option to ignore it, which I did.  Later that same flight I got an out of memory crash approaching Los Angeles.  It turned out that I had an updater running in the background without my knowledge or permission.

After a second flight with an out of memory CTD, in an area that was basically barren, with both of these showing 600 meg used by Dell Support Assist, I uninstalled that program and haven't had a problem since.

If you don't have Dell Support Assist you may have another program that uses bandwidth for updates without telling you, and this might affect MSFS.

In another thread some people were saying that the issue comes from using the Google Maps mod and not hitting stop in that app before shutting down. Supposedly leaves some entries in the HOSTS file that shouldn't stay there. I don't know if it's accurate but that's what a few people were saying.

I concur that This happens if you switch from Google maps back to Bing maps. You have to make adjustments to your hosts file...it' somewhere in the docs. This file could be hidden.

This happens when you have never used Google maps.

Agree... I believe it is server side issues at MS's end, not your internet connection, or maps...

I agree with that statement!

I did correct almost all the data streaming and lost connection errors by deleting two lines from host (no suffix) and hosts.ics files.  Since doing that I have had NO TCP errors.

However, I have several sets of notes about the same errors which, are dated months before GoogleMaps mod became available.  I have TCP trace files from way back then showing flightsim.exe and the Bing/Azure servers both issuing RESET commands, which then lead to the disconnect and data streaming error messages.

I believe that most of the recent TCP errors are caused by incorrect shutdown of the GoogleMap replacement mod (command prompt window) and will be fixed by cleaning those files.

BUT... I am convinced there are also Bing/Azure server problems.

It is very accurate. Remove those two lines...press SAVE and the above complaint is gone.
