Was just wondering on thoughts of the new flight modeling for the 152, 172 and TBM?  I can't really tell if there's a difference, but I haven't taken them through the ringer, anyone noticed anything?

I've responded to this elsewhere, but here goes:

They have changed the elevator and maybe rudder authority in this update (not the hotfix). This had been a real immersion killer from the beginning. To me, it is much more realistic now. Before, sitting on the ramp with the engine running, you could move the elevator full thow and actually move the nose up and down. This hypersensitivity made softfield/shortfield work pretty touchy. Also, landing flair was difficult with the over responsiveness.

I can't comment on the rudder because I got my Crosswind V3 pedals the same day as the update. So, any change due to the update, I can't detect.

The TBM for me is now perfect. Before, the autopilot would hunt and eventually get the plane so out of trim it would eventually disengage the autopilot and 'go crazy'. Now, I can set the autopilot and it just works. I can even go to Drone view and look around without the aircraft 'going crazy'.

In my case, I think the inability to have a zero input state (all controllers) was somewhat causing my autopilot issues. If all three controllers don't have a zero input (either with precision or large enough dead zone) the autopilot fights against the constant input signal (which might be a correct behavior.)

Anyway, yeah, I love what they've done.

Currently wiping brain matter off the walls of my sim "office". 🤣

Throw every addon at any previous sim and it will never look this good.  This is the sim I've been waiting for, for decades.  When the heavy metal comes into the scene, all of our lost brother's of the flight-levels, rarified air and chem-trail generation will join us low-level, scenery-loving "Screenshot simulator" pilots (I use that term loosely of course, hehe).

We'll all sit around the virtual FBO and sing Kumbaya! 😉

Same here. Became the messiah of sims by witness of Youtube previews. Later, reality exceed expectations.

Thanks for the responses.  Was just wondering since I saw these changes in the update but with the distraction of the CTD and hotfix wasn't sure if anyone had yet started to evaluate these new "test" models.  Sounds like the tweaks they've made are definitely in the right direction and that's good to hear.

Richie Fly, I'll see if I can find your original response, there's so many threads and noise sometimes it's difficult to find a particular topic.  Thanks for reposting your thoughts.

Still CTD for me. I may need to do full reinstall then.

Wait!

Did you, perchance, try the CTD 'fix' that said delete some folders from your registry? If you did you're as daft as me. 😀 Fortunately, I made a backup of the registry et voila! Updated in the 'Normal' manner.

Heart rate back to normal, blood pressure coming down nicely.

Yeah the new sensitivities adjuster, once figured out, is just about perfect. I was not at all happy with the earlier versions which were barely adequate. So I have stopped using FSUIPC for controller axis.

Same here. That's a huge improvement and gives a very granular means to find optimum settings, like centering the yoke, fighting rudder oversteering with minor movements of the pedals, making an oversensitive trim wheel behave etc. Needs a bit of adjusting to find the exact figures but I'm very happy already.

Kind regards, Michael

What CTD fix told you to edit the registry?  Wow.

Lots of confusion going around...

The registry edit fix was for the "Code : 0x80070141" issue some people were experiencing when trying to launch the sim after update 5 had been released, but before it had installed on their sim. Nothing to do with the USB controller CTD fix that you discovered, and has now been fixed with the latest hotfix.

It's getting a bit difficult to keep up with everything that's going on. I'm happy I haven't had any of these issues (knock on wood).

Phew!  I'd hate to think I mistakenly directed someone to fiddle with their registry....

I did not even know what the heck I did. I started my PC and I was trying to run the sim but I noticed that MSFS desktop icon was greyed out and it looked like something was loading like a loading bar on the top of the MSFS icon. Never seen that before. I was under assumption the fix was loading such way. I then started the sim and noticed the sim version matched the fix. When I loaded the sim and selected the airplane the sim crashed. Go figure.

thats frustrating. never happened to me, but then I don't fly longer than 1-2 hours max. did you use any mods or addons? do you have at least 32 GB ram installed? I would try an absolute bare bones configuration and not touch it, let the autopilot handle everything. I would also delete/emoty any cache if you have any, and deactivate any multiplayer and traffic.

very nice.

Unfortunately getting a CTD about 5 mins into any flying, this is my first encounter with a repetitive CTD but at the moment i cannot fly anywhere

The one thing that the axis configuration in MSFS can’t do yet is define the starting point of an axis.  Ie on my TQ6 I can’t set the detent that separates the throttle axis from the reverse portion as a start point.  I haven’t poked around in FSUIPC to try to calibrate it in there (that’s what I do in P3D) but it would be nice if I could do it in-sim.
