I don't think it is much to expect a sim that doesn't get broken after an update. The expectation is that the sim works. Hardly anybody is being unrealistic and expecting too much as you allude.

They're human.  It's really an alpha release compared to most 'games' which largely are complete at release.   In my 205h of use the sim never became broken after an update, until this one.  Clearly they made a significant mistake, and they may even learn from it.  They also put together a killer package so far and are scrambling to further develop it.   I'm just saying it's not the end of the world, to me it's anticipated at some level because as I say it's really behaving much more like an alpha product which in this case involves major changes to the SDK, major additions and enhancements to world scenery, porting Xbox, and DX-12 implementation.  I expect the occasional blunder in something like this.   And quite frankly for the $119.99 I paid for an entire world w/ 35 aircraft, all far superior than the garbage in P3D here 16y later, I remain delighted to get to partake in this alpha project.  I have no worries they won't resolve the current unique, and significant defect in a timely manner.

With all respect, this is nonsense. I am not saying this to you personally 🙂, but in general, as so many people say this here. It is not an Alpha release. Neither is a a Beta release. Nor is it an Early Access release. The only ones calling it that are here on the forums, either trying to justify it or conversely, criticize it. Regardless of the camp that you might be in, MSFS2020 was sold as a ready release. Yes they did note that further development would take place over a period of many years to improve on it but they did not say it was an experimental work-in-progress that might work better or worse as each release is issued.

I did not sign up as an Alpha tester. That's not what Microsoft sold this to me as. I love it that the sim will get better over time - the operative words being "get better". I did not however, buy into some random experimental thing. I am in awe of what they have achieved - this is a fantastic sim and the potential is massive if they don't lose the plot but it does not mean we must accept the constant flow of poorly tested and executed "updates". Putting (or forgetting) unfinished items in the menu like the fauna thing - that's not even a bug, it is just careless.

The definition of a "software update" might be different in different parts of the world but it does have one common global meaning: to improve and/or add additional functionality and features to an existing software.

What's the big deal? Until it's fixed all I do is hit pause when the FPS drop occurs, give it a minute to sort itself out, and resume.

yes, very simple, but oh but for some ppl this is immersion breaking, so they declare it unplayable, funny.

besides it will get fixed.

Think of the "immersion!" Lose that and what have you got? 🙄

The big deal is that that does not work.

In most cases the fps drop is exactly reproducable by changing the location of aircraft or drone, so it is the viewpoint of the player and therefore probably the loading of a certain point of the scenery. Waiting does not help, at least in my experience, moving away does.

There are areas that when it goes say into 5 FPS for instance, you have to exit the sim and restart. It will not resume to a normal FPS. That's a big deal.

It's like  " My new car runs well, except once in awhile they engine just quits, but if I let it coast for a a couple of hundred feet, it will start back up. The dealer said it will be fixed one day, so nothing to worry about."...   LOL

I think the difference is that if a car engine is quitting then that's quite clearly dangerous.

The issues those of us are having with the sim are indeed frustrating, but ultimately, it's a computer game. People need to put into some sort of perspective here. I've seen posts on the official MFS forum where people are threatening lawsuits against MS/Asobo, it's completely nuts.

It gets patched regularly, these things will get picked up. In the meantime people just need to go outside and get some air!

I was thinking almost the exact same thing, but was feeling to lazy right now to organize my thoughts and write it up.

I see you are a Beta tester for just Flight. Why don't you suggest to just Flight, that they follow the SOP of Asobo, and stop beta testing their products. Just publish it, and let the customer beta test it. .

It it will get patched by a patch that won't be beta tested either. Like gambling in Vegas I would guess.

I have to assume that's hyperbole, maybe driven by frustration.

Either that, or I would have to accept you honestly believe Asobo has no testers, and conducts no beta testing?

They admitted that they are not testing these patches, and were thinking about starting that up. Do your research before making comments.
