And that is likely not to change for a long time.

The hardware market was really hit hard by the shortage of certain rare earths and the pandemic.

I found the Nvidia promotional clip on today MFS update absolutely surrealistic . They tell  us how good their 3080 is when it is not available anywhere except with some scalpers at 2,200 EUR a pop. Do they live in the real world ?

I’ve only seen one 3090 in stock at Scan this year, and that went for over £2000.

New PC Ryzen 9850X3D - 32gb ddr5 6000Mhz - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk wifi - Gigabyte wind force gaming OC 5090 - 2TB Sabrent NVMe. Old PC - Ryzen 5900x - 32gb 3600Mhz RAM - Asus Strix X570-F Motherboard - ASUS TUF OC RTX 3090 - 1TB Sabrent NVMe. AOC AGON 32" 144Hz - Honeycomb Yoke - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. T Flight Rudder Pedals - Trackir.

I saw a 3090 a month or so ago on Newegg.  I wasn’t really planning on getting one but probably should if i can since the resale value of my 2080ti right now is likely far more than it deserves to be.

In any event I blinked and someone else bought it before I could finish making a decision.

It is kind of true. I upgraded from a 8600k (overclocked to 4,7 GHZ) and a 1070 to a 3080 first, which I undervolted a bit and then to a 5800x.

While I struggled to hold 30 fps and often dipped under 20 on the first setup on medium and high settings I reach up to 60 fps on full Ultra in 3440x1440.

But I struggle to hold 30 fps constantly in VR, although it mostly works.

And since the last update I can have 53 fps at FL31000 in a tbm and suddenly dip below 20...

Where can I get my hands on a GTX 3080 in the US? I cant fnd one that's not jacked up in price by black marketers.

And crypto currency miners hogging all GPUs.

A 6900XT will almost have same performance (not in VR tough) and is at least sometimes available (was lucky enough to get one for MSRP 2 weeks ago).

Does it vent its prodigious heat into the case as does the 3090?

All this talk of stuttering in latest sim update too. I do have it, but very rarely. I’m running a 3090 and I notice it uses way over 10GB VRAM in 2D and even more than 15GB in VR. Maybe there is a memory issue?

I'm glad I picked up an already overpriced 3090 over a month ago, now it's over $1000 dollars more than I paid. Unbelievable.

There is no a vendor having one in stock.

Wait for the second half of the year, stocks of superconductor should return

The charts in the OP link are very similar to every other chart I've seen since last August (although the 3000 series was not out yet).

The charts show that at 2K resolution, upgrading from say a 2070 to a 3080 is almost pointless, an expensive mistake.

But at 4K resolution, upgrading to 3080 will make a very big difference.

There's a lot of pixels in a VR headset (has two screens).

I believe the OP chart is likely very true to reality.

Running a straight 1080 at 4k is a dumb idea lol....  maybe in other games but it wouldnt work well in MSFS.  I really hate when they say things like "doubles performance!!!"

Depends on which manufacturer / model you get, mine blows a substantial part of the heat out through vents at the rear of the card.
