For those interested: Is the ATC phraseology any better now?

That is what I was referring to.  I badly want to eliminate the words"generic" and "decimal".  (Decimal? Isn't their region of the world on metrics anyway?  LOL!)

At some time soon I hope they get the "point"!

It's probably the way we're headed anyway.  We already got LUAW line up and wait.  I really dislike saying that.

Decimal is what we use here.

In fact my impression is ONLY the US and some parts of SE Asia use "point" and the rest of the world is "decimal".

Still ... the localisation should use "point" where it is appropriate.  You should be hearing "decimal" in Denmark and "point" in Wisconsin.

At least the game did not standardise on the US units for once.  I can recall long arguments in the forums for the original IL2 Sturmovich back around 2005  with some (probably younger)  US gamers insisting the bf109 should be available in a version with the cockpit instruments displaying feet and miles per hour not metres and kmh with the fuel data in US gallons not litres  😄

Interesting trivia - the US gallon is the older unit, it is basically the early 1700's "Queen Anne" gallon used mainly for wine that the British replaced in 1824 with a new standardised imperial gallon equal to ten pounds of water by weight.

Ha!  Ryan.  Not taking issues with the measurement systems per se.  Just playing off of it about the off-song phraseology.
I do sometimes get prescriptions filled that are generic.  But I have never heard the words generic or decimal when in the air. And airports everywhere have taxiiways beyond alpha and charlie!  Is it still a beta test?  There seems to be no delta (acronym for change).

Not shure but i could swear (in the real world) the tower gives wind and / or QNH only if it differs from ATIS to much in between the 30 minutes periods. If the change is to significant, the ATIS may get an update additional to the 30 minutes period.

Right...there are exceptions....  but it's rare, again, here in the US, that tower would issue altimeter to every departure.

We had to change to that a few years ago, I hated it at first but now it's fine. I also never use the AW part unless I have to. 😉

I uninstalled the european phraseology pack before the update.  Anyone know if this will still work or whether it needs to be updated?  I still have it uninstalled.

It was already better in that it would read your callsign back if you type it in on the set up screen. Giving myself the callsign Sexything 67 and hearing ATC use it never stops being funny. 🤣

Blimey Chock!  You're 67?  You're doing well!  And as for the 'Sexything', I can't dispute that as the wife thinks you look quite fetching in that cap!  😀

As for the ATC.  The interesting comment from Jorg was that third parties have modified the ATC, so if they can do it, we can do it.  I really liked his attitude last night.

One of the things I like about the current ATC is that (a lot of the time) the correct response / reply is normally on the '1' key - saves you having to bring up the ATC window.

I dunno. Go ask in the thread on the official forums.

There are a lot of other things to play with in there too if you want.  Also, screwing that file up is likely to break a lot of text in the game, so be sure you keep a copy of the stock one if you end up playing with it. 😄

Perfect thank you, and yes I will certainly make a back up!  I intend to only use this to make professional sounding changes, I swear! 🙂. Though it would be tempting to change “please exit runway when able” to “hey you, get the word not allowed off the runway!” Haha.  Might help the AI vacate a bit quicker 😉

It seems to be working fine. Mind you, I only used it once on a very short flight, though

I remember when we, the USA that is, were getting all pumped to 'go metric' when I was in about 6th grade or so, some 60y ago.  I want to say it was announced the country was going to do this on a 'Thursday'.  That Thursday came and went, and that was as far as we got and nobody said anything about it again...

(Mods I'm doing my best to keep this non-political and on topic as best as possible)

The reason "that day came and went" is because the Metric Conversion Act passed by Gerald Ford after all the money spent to push, promote, and pass the act was resting on the laurels of anyone to actually care because participating in the conversion was.......

COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY

And.. Yeah..  Like dust in the wind...
