I really hope they can fix this and we don't end up again like fsx times tweaking some cfg files. I am tired of this.

Thanks for pointing out this same subject is discussed in the other thread.

I once started reading that thread but it was too long for me, I never got to the crucial page. 🙂

is there a fix?

Most answers a given from page 7 on. During the earlier pages there was some bickering between Nay- and Yeasayers.

Does this strange observation of "wrong" presets affect users with custom presets, too? Anyone with any experience on this? I almost never use one of the presets but have my own settings, which initally were based on Ultra, but have been kept so far during updates.

Kind regards, Michael

pmb, yes I use my own ultra mixed in with custom settings as well and it does affect those who are using custom settings. It's a pain to have to do this, but it's the only way to get ultra settings working for the time being until it's brought up to Asobo's attention.

I use a custom preset based on ultra, too, and while that EGNX LOD stuff changes when I do the reset, nothing else does (at least nothing I noticed).

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

i have heard about that and thought it was a bit dodgy. but it looks like it is a thing after all! Pretty good news if the whole "graphic downgrade" is just that bug.

I suspected this was the case all this time, otherwise how could some people experience it and others don't?

I hope people find a solution now.

Yes it does. I have been always using custom settings all the time, most of them on ULTRA. Concerning to airports, it seems that default airports are more affected. But the workaround does not only fix ai buildings but also terrain, clouds, water etc. Some other have reported this too.

There are a lot of things going on simultaneously here, and we are slowly finding other settings not always sticking. Try clearing cache and then rebooting, just a thought, it may have ZERO effect but worth a shot. I really don't think anyone at this point can predict what this game will or will not do on any given system. We can guess...

Yah, my first thought was there is a serialization issue in their code which maps values, but then on the other hand it is very weird that it only happens to some settings and not others, since most of the serialization process should share the same basic code. In dev mode, the state issues are all over the place. It's odd.

@Alpine Scenery  Just to say thanks for sticking around here and giving us your insight, especially in the face of the continual sniping at anyone who raises valid issues with the sim, and the gaslighting that we are whiners and there is nothing wrong etc. etc.

I remember you always try to help the community, and you helped trace and alleviate the terrain spike issue for us all in the 'early' days.  Some people have short memories!

I am hearing now that Aerosoft have shelved their Simple Traffic addon due to the current issues.  It seems a lot of developers have come to a full stop due to not knowing if they should find work-arounds, or wait to see what Asobo does next.

The murmuring behind the scenes from payware developers is quite strong apparently.  People who like their third party addons (freeware as well) should take this seriously, as it has caused developers problems (and stopped the workflow as you say), not just for now, but with what Asobo's next 'planned' moves are.  I believe they are receiving honest feedback!

Sorry for the jargon, serializer just means converting the setting to disk basically and making sure the setting is synchronized between the game-cache-memory-disk properly. In programming, there is a standard JSON or XML method people use.

Think of JSON/XML sort of like HTML. So let's say we had something like <Setting>The content of your setting</Setting>. Well programmers can use a multi-tag sort of easy to read format to store all their settings. When we save the setting in code, it automatically reads it into our lists and stuff, so we don't have to manually do it.

Thanks a lot Bob. Yes, and I know I can come off too blunt sometimes in here. It's not intentional or anything, I just get in a hurry. It is frustrating to me though, because I want this thing to WORK right so I can move on.

This happens to me as well. Except on my system it reverts to Medium (and it actually says Medium), and I have to manually set it to Ultra.

If you have Geforce Experience, make sure to disable "auto tuning" in its settings. I've had revert to "on" after driver updates.

Edit: Sorry, I see someone else made this suggestion also.. I'm late to the party 🙂
