November 19, 20214 yr For anyone hitting performance drops in either DX11 or 12, here are a few suggestions gleaned from the forums : - Reapply / resave your graphics settings in-sim as file permissions may have changed - Disable / recreate any rolling cache - Check any overrides in the Nvidia CP -> disable low latency mode (especially for DX12) and external frame rate limits, at least temporarily - If flightsimulator.exe had the "diable fullscreen optimizations" settings manually enabled, try unchecking it - Temporarily disable the seasons mod - Run disk cleanup, clear the directx shader cache and reboot Hope these help...

I'm having zero performance changes all's very well there. I use LLM set to Ultra in NCP and still do as it improves panning significantly. I also continue to use Bijan's seasons w/ no perf troubles. My chief complaint is changes to the Weather system, in particular clouds themselves (in DX11, haven't really check DX12 if that helps). So is better, more is worse there. I'm sure they'll be back working on a fix hopefully very soon as I don't think a lot of people are pleased. I am curious where the DX shader cache lives I might re-try DX-12 after doing this suggestion. Also Dylan, I think you are a TBM930 user. Can you share your sensitivity settings for this plane? FSX DX10 was an experiment (it was even referred to as "preview" on the option box in game) and ACES disbanded before it was completed, hence the DX10 fixer mod to try and make it useable. From what I have read so far, the MFS DX12 experiment sounds less buggy than the FSX DX10 experiment was, although there is a performance hit as expected and lots of niggles. If it all worked perfectly it wouldn't be an experiment/preview, it'd be RC or RTM. You missed the whole foosball here with me being sarcastic but never mind. November 20, 20214 yr I had an interesting situation. When I first installed the update it looked like I was getting 10-20 FPS less than before, even before trying DX12. Turned out I had Max Frame Rate set in Nvidia Control Panel (duh!). So I turned that off and restarted everything and the FPS went up but I was getting a really slow response time from my 3090 GPU. Didn't really know what to do. Ended up running DDU to clean out all the Nvidia stuff, then reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver. Suddenly, everything was back to normal. I am only flying a C152 but I can get 60 FPS in the air over NY. Now that everything is stabilized I am going to see what impact trying DX12 has. Will report back, although I am certainly not expecting improved performance for obvious reasons. But some customers kept saying it would gain loads of fps and make everything look better, that it would be a panacea. And this is supposed to be a justification for what, exactly? DX12 was released in July 2015, more than FIVE YEARS before FS2020. At the time FS2020 was released, there were already several games supporting DX12, real time ray tracing and DLSS. Instead, FS2020 came out in DX11 with screen space reflections, 96 pixel cubemap reflections (until SU6), embarrassing single thread bottleneck, glass cockpit gauges programmed in JS and heavy on the main thread. Now, after 15 months we have a "DX12 release" with no additional graphics features and ridiculous performance and we cannot even complain. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
November 20, 20214 yr My only problem with the DX12 beta is right after take off, I get one or two long frames, then the rest of flight is fine. I've got vsynch on locked at 30. In DX11 mode the locked frames at 30 doesn't work, I get 60 frames. November 21, 20214 yr I am using DX12 I get a few fps faster than DX11, I have not come a across any problems using it. The only problem I have been getting is screen tearing and a chequerboard effect at the top of the screen, this has happened twice when using DX11 & DX12,so not a DX12 fault, I reset the sim and all was well again, others have reported this problem. November 21, 20214 yr Wondering what people set their rolling cache at? on or off, how much if on.
