Well,

in my case I didin't install any update, but probably server-side the weather has suffered also some update, so it works more coherently now than it did last week.

as has been said several times before: not under certain mysterious circumstances but only if you installed the sim in the default path offered by the install program somewhere on C:\......... simply change that to point to a new, different path, like I have it on: D:\fs2020, and never had to re-install MSFS since day 2 😊

Sure, and that should be the case, except some previous beta testers following this same guidance previously, with a non-standard installation, claim they HAVE needed to do a complete re-install in the past, such as Ianrivaldosmith and a few others on the official MSFS forum, so sometimes, for whatever reason, it can cause a complete re-install, under 'mysterious' circumstances!

So I am not going to be the one to tell John that, for definite, he won't have to re-install if he has a non-standard installation - but you can if you want.  He gets angry!  Very Angry!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

anyone knows at what time we can register for the Beta ? my XBox Insider still shows nothing....

with a 100 Mbit internet connection a complete fresh re-install would be a matter of only a 2.5 hours - all automatic non-supervised process during which I read avsim or am busy with flight planning, unlike in the old P3D/xplane days, re-installing required a lot of user-interaction and could last days. with MSFS it all boils down only to your internet speed. now off to looking for some more "mysterious" winter snow wonderland flying with SU7 beta, the replacement for LDS in 2021😊

I haven't seen a time, just 'Monday'.  @DAD had a good guess at it a few posts back - 4pm UTC.

They are pushed out at this time quite regularly.  5pm in France, clocking-off time, so probably push the button and run!

Hi,

It failed. The install is stuck. I think I'm going to stop it.

Thank you anyway.

did you join the beta in xbox insider hub? did see the update and apply it in the store? do you have all updates from the store applied? just like DAD had described above? and best practice for new installation of the core MSFS is to NOT use the default "C:\xyz" path that it suggests but select somewhere else. dou you have some 30 GB free on that drive, may be required afterwards for the additional updates from content manager. rebooting between various steps recommended. if you have highspeed internet you can always de-install MSFS just like any other app (settings-apps-deinstall) and start all over. or as recommended before, use the free Macrium Reflect Backup/Restore tool for your C drive.

"In MS Store download / install the app XBOX INSIDER HUB

Logon with your MSFS/MS credentials

Select Previews

Join MSFS Beta/Preview, wait until your "application" was approved"

I have been in the previous Betas, but now I do not see anything under Previews anymore. Hopefully it will reappear when the Beta drops.
