Then you would end up with a double-installation of base files, Steam + MS Store, sharing the /Official and /Community folders, right? I once thought about that possibility, but was afraid to kill my properly working system.

Kind regards, Michael

No, they are in different paths... none of the folders is shared.

Thanks. that would be another 100+ GB, which I would have available, but I think I just wait for the official release.

Kind regards, Michael

so i installed the patch and now after some time in the FBW320 it is crashing. Not sure why and to what it is related. Maybe AIG traffic controller, maybe smtg. with the FBW320

No, it's a beta test for the hotfix. It's not the official hotfix.

Oh, No!

The update it's installed, but in another folder.

What should I do?

Help, please!

It's a big mess, how did that happen?

Unless you are familiar with the folder structure of your installation and willing to move them manually, I believe that the only solution is to wipe it out and reinstall...

Here all OK, the hotfix seems good. Color banding is gone and the weather seems to work properly. Also the traffic works, while in the past days with SU7 was hit and miss.

John, ok but only if you promise to get yourself a new SSD and install MSFS there in the future!, 😀 and not to the default path that MSFS suggest on first installation.

I suppose you may have ended up now with 2 separate installations, your old and the new one from today because you wanted to participate in the SU7 public beta, without properly de-installing the old original version first? not good. MSFS gets confused. check what MSFS thinks where it resides, it is in a file called:

Usercfg.opt

it is here:

C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

the last line points to the current installation, in my case:

InstalledPackagesPath "D:\fs2020"

make sure this points to your current (new SU7 beta installation).

otherwise: de-install all MSFS installations before you do a complete new install. hope you have a fast internet connection 😀, during those 2 hours while you watch TV, read avsim or take your dog for a walk. using a 100 Mbit connection, plan 2.5 hours for a complete re-install. in the meantime (before you get your new SSD - as you promised) you could install again on your C  drive or whatever the fastest drive with a minimum of 120 GB free space you may have, but this time remember NOT to accept the default path that the installer suggests and has auto-filled in for you, instead use something like C:\MSFS or even better a non C drive. installing anything other than Windows onto drive C is never a good idea for future backups of your windows partition, which is always drive C and should be the only thing there.

Two remarks:

1. if you have questions about how this beta works exactly: SKIP IT. Beta's usually are for computer savvy people. As this topic is proving already. If you can't figure out yourself how this works it isn't for you.

2. if you are using the beta and add ons don't work as intended... what else did you expect?!?! You shouldn't have installed the beta either!

I do wonder if this public beta was a good idea...

public beta is a good idea but not for everyone, when do people start to take responsibity for their actions?
