Is for me from FL220 to FL340, switch to clear skies between these levels and back to live weather outside.

Thanks, will comply.

Did anyone already test if this "workaround" of some over at the official forums work for them? Like selecting "clear skies" in the world map during flightplanning and firing up the sim and only when sitting on the tarmac switch to "live weather"? This would be an acceptable workaround for me until things get solved...

😊 thanks, but no thanks , they must not release this patch until the live weather is not back to what it was and their announcement shows it is far from it

Why I disagree is because they seem to be really struggling with the weather - it may be some time before they fix it properly.
They obviously think they have fixed it a few times, and they haven't, so they must be scratching their heads.

Meanwhile, all of the other faults they mention are fixed and working fine in the beta.
So my view is, they shouldn't withhold the patch just due to the weather issue.
They could release the fixes they have and keep working on the weather, and release the fix for that when it is fully working.

This costs them nothing extra to do it this way, and it costs us nothing either other than waiting a little while longer for the weather fix, which it looks like we will have to either way.

Looking at this new testing method of an opt in public beta, even for steam users, this should continue hopefully.
There is probably no perfect way of beta testing, but this has been reasonably successful.

As long as we can test like this and find no new bugs or showstoppers, it might be an idea just to release the working fixes incrementally on a Tuesday afternoon (normal update time in Europe).  I would rather have the little incremental fixes that are tested and working, along with a small download, rather than these big blockbusting updates that seem to break things when they happen.

Just one opinion of many of course.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I have had to do this going back months anyway.  I would select live weather during flight planning only to see clear skies once the scenario had loaded.
I would then select few clouds, let it settle for a few seconds, then select live weather, and after a few seconds it would load in.
I am wondering if just waiting 30 seconds would have had the same effect anyway - maybe it is just a slight time lag.

I understand the attraction of live weather, and it is important they get it right, but it is not the biggest thing to me at the moment, and that is why I want them to release the patch as it is to fix everything else in the meantime.  Where I fly, it would be impossible to fly in live weather half of the time anyway, so I end up picking scattered clouds or light showers etc. There are some pretty good presets out there.

Fully agree with you. Hopefully they will listen and release a patch very soon.

I tend to be also  a bit selfish in this regard 😉.

The other faults that you mentioned have impacted me a little but nothing really annoying that I couldn't by-pass (stutters, less FPS etc.) or ignore. What really aggravates me are the clouds at ground level, the clear sky weather with LW,  and the feeling that the new metar focus breaks the weather dynamics. Add to that the return of the temperature bug.  Scratching their head ? Before SU7, the weather was working more or less OK except for a dire UI. Goodness, why don't they bring back what was working, release the fix and then scratch their head ?

Never liked the presets in any sim and specially in this one. They are very rudimentary (winds, pressure etc.) and horribly static. If they release a partial fix now, I fear that we are going to have this wrecked live weather until the Spring ! And MS will demand that they focus on helis, gliders or a another Reno-like DLC.

I strongly disagree. It's better to fix all the bugs except one, instead of fixing nothing.

I haven't been able to enjoy the simulator at all since SU7. I would love to get back to flying through Christmas and New Year.

The weather issue is annoying, but you're still able to create the weather you want manually.

My guess (and surely no one else will care): MS/Asobo will not release anything new to fix SU7 before the holidays, except the already released beta. In other words, they screwed up the sim in SU7 (weather, etc.) and simply don't know how to fix it. Wait for SU8, to see what will happen by then.

I care 🙂and your statement sounds reasonable to me. Maybe it's really time to jump in on the beta.

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

So this thread now boils down to some people saying 'I have the fixes I want. Screw you, give me the patch now.'
Others saying 'I don't have the fixes I want. Screw you, give me the patch later.'
  😄

I hope you all get the fixes you want before the Christmas holiday period starts.

Fix the clouds sitting on the ground, haze everywhere and the track IR, and I would be happy.

I would be amazed if this hotfix did not appear before the holidays. There are some obvious quick wins they can push out to tide folks over.

Well they only have about a week to get their butts in gear.
