This has probably been asked, but does the beta fix the high OAT problem?

Yes.

There are about 3 GB of additional updates in the Content Manager. While those are technically “optional”, I presume the fixes in the beta may not work properly without them.

Thank you.  That is where I am at.  What a convoluted process I ran into.  First the xBox app.  Then searching for what to do.  Finally, it is then get the xBox Experience App next and click on Join.  Got that app.  What an experience (pun).  Had to search for how to click Join.  Then reboot my system.  Then back to the Experience App to find how to update.  And even that was not intuitive.  Then there were elements I had to manually update in Content Manager!

Does the development team have to go through drills like that when they start each work session?  If so then I am beginning to understand why we are where we are at after 16 months, and why we end up with what we end up with after each SU#.

On Steam it took about 4 clicks.

With due respect, but there's a difference between pixelated clouds and colour banding, and the clouds steaming from the underground, overcast without clouds, temperature of 234 degrees C at FL240, and fog which just appears out of nowhere. Priorities!

Well of course Mark.  Did somebody say something different to this then?

I asked on the official forums for some communication on the subject, the thread got locked citing a load of bull reasons not specific to what I was asking, Freedom Of Speech is a myth eh?!

I saw the locked thread. Apparently their feelings were hurt because people wanted an explanation of over a month delay which is ongoing,  in fixing the things that SU7 broke.

I know right!? Beggars belief that is acceptable to ignore customers when it comes to computer gaming software, but in the real world and in any other line of business it's totally unacceptable.

Nope. Not a myth.

Unfortunately, many people misunderstand what freedom of speech (or expression) really means. Which is that the government can not abridge your right to say what you want (with some exceptions, such as the old yelling fire in a theatre thing, or hate speech).

Private entities (such as the MSFS forums, or this forum) can tell you to go pound sand all they want. You have two choices; suck it up and play by their rules, or leave.

Sorry, but trotting out the freedom of speech thing where it is not warranted just bugs me.

Have a good one!

I was being facetious 😉

I'm just tired of getting the sim completely FUBARed with every odd update (SU5, SU7). They are treating the customers as beta testers, even though we've spent a lot of money on it.

I would just like to enjoy the sim as it's supposed to work through the holidays. That's all.

Yesterday the game Humankind on Steam was updated. It was a large update, several GB.

The update broke some function for some people.

Today it was hotfixed. ONE day later.

It's now been a month since SU7 was released, which broke several core functions of the sim/game. Weather being a primary.

No hotfix yet.

The only reason Asobo / Microsoft is getting away with that, is that we're a community that is used to be dealing with finicky and weird software.

If anyone from Asobo or Microsoft reads this, please understand that all these new players you're reaching out to on XBox and PC are used to triple A titles which get patched regularly. You're going to lose this group or customers if this continues.
Every day that goes by with a broken simulator, the more people who find something else to do. This wonderful simulator will be gone from the front of their mind, and they won't even think about it anymore.

And I say this as someone who really loves the sim and spend considerable amounts of money on addons and gear.

Roger that.

Once again the limitations of a text only form of communication rears its ugly head. 😉

I like facetiousness. I'm also a fan of sarcasm and satire, two more things that are difficult to detect when text only, although The Onion does a remarkably good job with those.

I decided to go for the hotfix today but now during my first flight I wonder what actually was 'fixed'. The weather? Again, after 300 miles I get the straight line cutting off the clouds and leaving only the haze..... No metar etc.

I checked, I got version 1.21.18, which I learned is the current one for the hotfix.....

What did they hotfix?

From my perspective the color banding and the clouds hugging the ground are fixed.
