Any update on the SU7 Hotfix?

Featured Replies

I am on the Beta and the latest driver, with DX11.  I see the cloud pixilation, sometimes.

Different people say they are pixelated or they aren't from day to day.
Apart from the colour banding issue that they have just found and solved with the beta, I think the clouds are just the same (maybe since SU5) and we have to be careful not to kid ourselves here.

The pixilation for me occurs in certain circumstances when the clouds are close and the light is shining in a certain direction, and that is it.
A new driver isn't going to fix this if it isn't documented in the Nvidia driver notes - which it isn't.
This is down to how the clouds are rendered in the sim, and even in the beta, it is still there in certain circumstances.

Some people don't see this - probably the ones that didn't see the degradation in the tree draw distance (which Asobo found and eventually fixed - even though it wasn't there!  )
Of course, those people are normally the 'proper' pilots that don't look outside of the cockpit or aren't interested in the scenery.

The bottom line is, even in the beta there are artefacts in the clouds occasionally, some worse even than the pixilation.
I have seen weird shearing / shredding effects, and strange effects when two cloud types overlap in transparency, but only occasionally.
I saw some of this before the beta, and I don't expect it to be fixed in the beta because they don't mention that they are trying to fix it in the beta patch notes.
In any case, it doesn't distract me too much, and I am sure Asobo can and will make it better when it is more of a priority for them.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

On the beta as well and saw pixelated clouds for the first time over the straits of Hormuz. First time i have seen them since joining on day one, and they disappeared again within minutes.

Yes.  One of the strange things about it is the transience.   I will say that once you have seen it, you can tend to look for it and notice it more.

I just try to ignore it now, as I don't think they will get around to fixing it too quickly.  They have too much to do on other priorities at the moment.

Maybe when they get DX12 going properly it might fix this and some of the strange cut-off water reflections as well.  They are the two worst graphical issues I think.  The terrain morphing is their algorithms rather than graphics glitches.

It gets to the stage where you just hope and wish in 18-months time that there will be progress.  Looking back on the last 16-months, it has been painfully slow, and two steps forward, one step back at times.

Apart from the odd stutter, performance is stellar now though to be fair.  I suppose they have to deal with that early or it can exclude a lot of people.
I remember I put the first version of FSX down for a few years as it was a slideshow until the computer hardware got quicker.  At least MSFS is a world away from that.  It's a good base to build on.

Would someone please verify the MSFS version number for SU7 + beta?  I just joined the beta tonight and had some hoops to jump through with two xBox apps for the PC.  Would like to verify I got it done.  So wishing to verify.

If you check a USA airport with 10SM in the metar the vis is probably a lot better.  People said it appeared fixed.

Wondering if we will get this fix, this year?

This has probably been asked, but does the beta fix the high OAT problem?

Thank you.  That is where I am at.  What a convoluted process I ran into.  First the xBox app.  Then searching for what to do.  Finally, it is then get the xBox Experience App next and click on Join.  Got that app.  What an experience (pun).  Had to search for how to click Join.  Then reboot my system.  Then back to the Experience App to find how to update.  And even that was not intuitive.  Then there were elements I had to manually update in Content Manager!

Does the development team have to go through drills like that when they start each work session?  If so then I am beginning to understand why we are where we are at after 16 months, and why we end up with what we end up with after each SU#.

I agree. I'm on Steam where it was simpler, just opted in for the beta, next it was downloaded and that was it. Oh wait, not yet, there were the Content Manager updates.

I only use a hand full of simulators besides MSFS (including ETS2) but among them I still will have to find one with such a convoluted installation/update process like for MSFS.

Kind regards, Michael

I’m debating jumping I to the beta.  I was holding out waiting for the final to be released but if it looks like that won’t be until after Christmas I may make the leap.  My only real concern is the reported issues with CRJ display screens, though it seems that doesn’t impact everyone and it can be dealt with by restarting the flight…

The CRJ issue needn't put you off. There's a very easy workaround fix. Load the CRJ. Then simply reload the flight and all is well. Dont ask me why this works, or why it should, but it does.
