February 14, 20224 yr When I got MSFS at launch I tried it on my gaming laptop, it ran poorly, and the laptop’s fans were at constant high RPM. Experimenting, I installed it today on that same laptop and it runs great. Not as well as on my desktop, but it’s playable in a portable package. So, for all the hand wringing on the state of the sim, this is clear evidence of how much it has improved - on the optimization side at least - and in all else I would say. laptop specs: i7 2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Edited February 14, 20224 yr by Los
February 14, 20224 yr It sure has. It gets a lot of scrutiny...some of it well deserved. But I think a lot of it, is just out of passion. We all want to see it succeed and be the best version of itself. Personally I think it's pretty incredible where it's at, this early into it's life cycle. I just got an HP Reverb G2 last week, and being able to fly this sim in VR is absolutely mind boggling to me. I can't wait to keep seeing everything improve.

February 14, 20224 yr Has the Sim improved overall since release? In my eyes no I'd say it's on Even Par with release; VR has taken a massive step backwards, Weather is currently all over the place, performance has improved at the expense of graphics, progress in flight physics has improved, World Updates have generally been getting better & better, Sim Updates have been Even Stevens for me as they can be very Hit or Miss. Ultimately there's still too many step backwards when step forwards are being made, the aforementioned VR being a prime example of this. But "when it works" and it all comes together it can be a magical experience, the future's still very exciting for this title - regardless of current & prolonged issues. If it wasn't for the (amazing) performance gains, I'd argue Asobo is borderline incapacitated. Haven't seen the prop stuff yet, so this might be another one on the plus side (unless it breaks other things). I'd say, however, it can only get better with the XBOX release behind them and a bit less "urgency" and a bit more settling down. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

What I see happening is that Asobo is constantly adding new content, in spite of assurances that bug fixes are going to get some attention. "Game of the Year and Reno" seems to have followed XBox launch in the "must do first" category. SU8 has a bunch of aircraft fixes listed (content fixes), but is light on "bug fixes".. yet again.. 😐 Bert

February 14, 20224 yr The sim has come very far since release. Yea some hiccups and regression here and there through SUs but overall still more polish and performance optimizations by time. Also please spare us with the "P3D babble" as if Lockheed Martin created some great ground up from scratch evolution in simming. They simply revamped an old FSX base code build that Microsoft/Aces had already accomplished and made slight improvements over years while charging $60 license fee every whole number version update. MSFS will continue to grow better with features, optimizations and technology over time. Kudos to MS/Asobo! Nah, it is because it has been graphically downgraded. Such a travesty.

February 14, 20224 yr Well for me that the worst time to be a simmer on MSFS, we got a sim that runs better and better and we are bombarded with new high quality airplane project but nothing yet. During the months to come, we will see a lot of things change in the simulator sphere.
February 14, 20224 yr I still have to keep kicking myself to believe that MSFS 2020 is an actually reality. For so long it was just a pipe dream. Specs: 11900K (5ghz), 64GB ram 3600mhz, RTX 3080 ti
