Postage stamps, currency, the National Anthem and even post boxes that show ER that will change to CR. The R stands for Regina - the ‘surname’ of the Monarch. In the courts Queen’s Council becomes King’s Council. Spell checker is an word not allowed again. It's Counsel. Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. Z170x Gigabyte m/b. 28" LG HD monitor. She's been the Queen for my entire life; it's going to be an adjustment to think of the King now ... King Charles III. On a side note, it will be interesting to see how long it will take for our money and stamps to change--if indeed they do change. In the UK, top lawyers become Queen's Council - (QC's) - a very high honour for the very best (and most expensive) lawyers. I heard on the radio this morning that that has changed with immediate to "KC". Of course I understood it's an immediate transfer: "The Queen is dead, long live the King" and all that but a KC just sounds so weird...

September 9, 20223 yr We had a 96 gun salute at Castle Cornet. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/gun-salute-to-mark-queen-s-death-held-in-guernsey/ar-AA11DWdZ?li=BBnbcA1 I was nearby at the time. Sounded like it was going on forever. One every ten seconds.
September 9, 20223 yr She seemed such a nice lady. Regal yet at times more down to earth (jam sandwiches with Paddington). Interested in photography as well; when I was shopping for an old Leica M3 and my fiancé was rolling her eyes I just told her that "if it's good enough for QE it is good enough for me". September 9, 20223 yr This is very sad. She was highly respected around the world, and I admired the way that she conducted herself at all times. A truly remarkable woman. I doubt anyone in the world will ever be able to measure up to her. In 1953 I was a young Marine in Korea. The news of her coronation came rather quickly considering where we were. There were Brits serving there too and I recall one of them pulling up in a jeep to our unit with a bottle of wine and a glass. He poured a little of the wine into the glass and raised a toast to the new queen. He was making the rounds of all the nearby units. It's nice to have an apolitical leader who does not have to stand for election and who you can look up to as someone who is above the fray and is honored by almost everyone. I will be watching for the new king's coronation. Nobody does pomp as well as the British. It's a pleasure to watch. I once flew to into Sydney on a TDY trip to our station in Alice Springs. I flew in commercial but was going to fly to Alice the next morning in an RAAF aircraft so I spent the night at some Air Base near Sydney. In the morning I went to the officer's mess as a guest for breakfast. An orderly with a towel draped over his forearm came up to me and scared me a little when he stomped his feet and asked if I wanted coffee or tea. I had only seen that in movies before. I was only in Alice for two weeks, but I loved it there. The Aussies were very friendly. May your Queen rest in peace. She was a lady in every sense of the word. She will be long remembered. After all, the gov't just spent how much to replace 20's and 50's with the new 'polymer' bills? I visited GB only once when I was around 11 years old. I was astonished that paper bills were all different sizes. I remember my dad having to fold some of the bills so they would fit in his wallet. The advent of ATM's would not have been possible had the currency not been rationalized to be standard sizes. Fr.
