I wonder if updating MSFS will force you to use the new driver?  I hate changing drivers when the one I have works great.

Doubt they would force that upon people.

Finally. I hope they're deep into SU11 now.

I think we all should update our graphics driver too together with SU10, to avoid glitches, etc.

It's called 'tough love'.  It's like people asking for a flight plan because they can be bothered to simbrief it themselves.  🙂

In all the years I have been flight simming, I think I have updated my drivers about 3 times. Had to roll back one of those updates.

I usually update them every 6 months and to the second newest version, never to the latest one, to avoid issues, but this time it's going to be different, I suppose.

I just went into nvidia's website and the last one is dated August 9, so most probably they'll release the new one by tomorrow.

Cheers, Ed

I am using a beta of a  slightly newer Nvidia driver Bob (517.22) and it works just fine with everything, and inside MSFS - no issues at all.  You will only need the new driver if you want to use DX12 anyway.

@Ikarus280  No need to worry. No major issues in the beta so you shouldn't get anything broken, but some third party developers are preparing minor updates straight after the SU10 update anyway, if not to fix things, then just to add their feature updates that have been tested with regard to the SU10 beta rather than SU9.  I believe the PMS GTN750 may need a small update afterwards, as there is already a new version of that being tested.

Let's face it, there is no alternative to the SU10 update anyway, or the driver update if you want to use DX12.  The final version of the beta has been fine for me, and I am loving the extra performance and smoothness DLSS has brought me.
I will also give DX12 my first proper try after the driver update.  Depending on individuals PC hardware, it has the potential to make the performance and smoothness even better.
No problem with sticking with DX11 though for those who are happy with it, for the present at least, although it will take over in the future.

Well DLSS is the obvious one for a lot of people, unfortunately in VR it's practically useless with Garmin screens as they're far too blurry but during the 'Happy Smiles for the Cameras Marketing Exercise' (Q&A) they did talk about using a Mask over the screens to prevent DLSS from working in that mask or something, quite how long that will take them is anyone's guess though.

uumm....I'm sure there's more, oh yeah the G1000NXi becomes default, that's actually pretty huge and testament to the work Working Title have put in.

Thank you for letting me know. Have you noticed any performance improvements using TAA rather than DLSS with the beta version?

Latest feedback snapshot (note the items marked SU10) https://www.flightsimulator.com/feedback-snapshot/

Implement Weather and Terrain APIs (Wishlist LT #1 – Partial)  |  SU 10 +
- Terrain & Weather Radar Drawing API is currently being tested and will be released with SU10. It will allow WASM modules to request customized bitmaps showing the terrain and weather around the user’s aircraft.

DirectX12 on PC (Wishlist LT #6)   |  SU 10 +
- Stability, memory allocation and overall optimization improvements are ongoing.

Cloud Layer Improvements (Bugs LT #2, #17)   |  SU 10
- Fine-tuning of the cloud layer system to be more precise and incremental is ongoing. The cloud layer will be much thinner at sea level and thicker at higher altitudes. The updated system will better depict a realistic cloud coverage at low altitude with an update of the weather panel.

Bush Trips (Bugs 3 Months #12)  |  SU 10
- Improvements to the bush trip experience are almost complete and the team is running various tests.

From what I remember seems there most recent the SU10 beta release notes those were talking about the DX12 performance improvements are locked out on nVidia cards if your don't have the correct driver.

Unfortunately no, although it was still very smooth, and no issues.  DLSS does cause some slight blurring of the flat screens presently, until Asobo fix this at a later date (it has been acknowledged by them), but I find the performance increase has been so profound, that I don't want to turn it off.  I use the new sharpening slider to elevate the blurriness a bit, and I now find it easily tolerable.
DX12 with TAA might show some benefits though if your card can support it and your PC config is good for it (multithreading etc.).

I can run at 60 fps at 4k ultra setting almost everywhere now with DLSS, but I currently prefer 30 fps during the summer, with my graphics card running cool, and I can barely hear the fans!
Even 30 fps with DLSS seems much smoother now for some reason, probably to do with frame timing etc. as it just doesn't skip any frames, ever.

Edit:  See lwt1971's thread above - a few performance improvements in his list that will apply to any settings, or at least, avoidance of performance degradation.
