PMDG - Randazzo Interview

Kind of my prediction just look how long it is taken them to push out the 73-900 from the release of the -800, a new EFB/tablet and people really think they are going to push a 777-200 LR/F/-300ER/-200-ER and a 747-4/-8 and maybe a 737 Max before late 2024?. Ok we will see even streamers like Fabio predicts this and he has some insights to PMDG. they are not coding for P3D at this moment where they have issues with debugging in MSFS something they did not in P3D or FSX.

Probably best to listen to what the man said. Perhaps I need to watch it again but my impression was nothing like such a long timeline for the 777.

related but not, but certainly relates to a post in this thread, I ignored a user but why or how do we also ignore their quotes when someone quotes them? Or can we?

A very enjoyable video, but sad to learn he's sold the DC-3. I always hoped it would serve as inspiration for a PMDG Dakota one day. Ah well, roll on that 777 !

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Waiting for the 777 so I can use my credit by then I'll have full Honeycomb setup ready to go.

Since they have a 777 already, and since they must have learned one heck of a lot about working w/ MSFS doing the 737 series, it seems like a 777 for MSFS will come quicker than the 737 did.

After many years of supporting PMDG with my money i have stopped being their fan.

Basically they have lost me due to their broken promises for P3D.

Until now we still do not have DC6 proper installer for P3D5, also their promises about L/VNAV for 777 and 747 are in unknown state.

VNAV for 747 is horrible, yet they do nothing to correct it.

777 cockpit refurbishment - promised and gone.

And we are not talking about months of delays, we talk about years...

A week ago i have tried to fly DC6 in MSFS - as it turned out DC6 autopilot is broken as it does not track VOR as it used to do before.

For me PMDG fell from absolutely 'top developer' to 'good but unreliable' one.

Yeah well one would think the same about the EFB. Still it‘s half a year behind schedule. But yes, it will come quicker than the 737 because otherwise we‘d be talking about 2025 for the 777.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I'm tired of all this interviews. To mutch bla, bla, bla and nothing realy change, PMDG is not my Companie anymore.

Lots of words but no real important updates, i give up with these guys.

Regarding talks with another party about the 787, could it be possible they are working with Qualitywings with their 787? Or maybe even taking the whole project on themselves? There's been no 787 for MSFS news from Qualitywings for a long time so maybe PMDG getting involved with the development could explain it.

I share every word with you. I am very surprised how many simmers still believe Mr. Randazzo's promises and have not understood his commercial strategy. Promise, promise and again shamelessly promise. We P3D simmers have been waiting for years for the improvements for their expensively paid products, we have contributed to the maintenance of the families of its collaborators. For each necessary modification he asked for patience, "we are working on it" !! But one day MSFS appeared on the horizon and the splendor of the money it would bring. Although commercially understandable, professional ethics should have made Mr. Randazzo remember the mountain of money that the P3D simmers have poured into PMDG coffers. And what does he still promise? The changes of the catastrophic LNAV of 777 for P3D will be implemented together with the release of 777 for MSFS !!?? Does it seem correct to you?
Shouldn't he have prioritized old problems before tackling new ones? But no you say, P3D is defunct, the money is made with MSFS.
I think his strategy is to shift the time focus. Hope for strong immigration from P3D to MSFS, so simmers will focus on new editions. Patience if those who will not emigrate have paid many dollars for products that are not worth it.
Pay attention dear MSFS simmers, if a new platform arises, he won't hesitate to leave you out in the dark.
Sorry for my english

IMO, I think PMDG can still release the 777 in 2023, although everything with the 737 was supposed to be wrapped up by now.  The main thing that can push back the 777 are the outstanding issues with the PMDG 737 including the EFB, 900, etc, (they haven't even released the 900 yet, right?).

Assuming they have been doing work on the 777 in the last 6 months, the 777 is supposed to be much easier than the 737 because PMDG had a lot of technical hurdles to overcome to get the 737 out. I think most of those technical hurdles were figured out with the 737 so assuming there are no more technical hurdles, I don't think the 777 will nearly as long as the 737. However, the only reason I can see the 777 pushed back is because PMDG is still working on the 737 and I thought they were supposed to be done with the 737 by now.

This guess about QualityWinigs was mentioned on the PMDG forums and Robert responded “That would indeed be wildly inaccurate”, so that most likely means it’s not them. I gave up on QW some time ago. They’re only a few of them and only one or two ever reply in the forums these days.

This is really not a relevant discussion if it's about P3D5.    Although I understand that frustration, I also understand that they need to allocate resource to where the revenue and demand is - and that is no longer P3D.  Things do change and business must adapt.  A 'commitment' is only valid as long as the business environment allows it to be a valid commitment.

Well, you've listed about 4 separate releases there.   I don't know which bit of the interview you actually listened  to but the 777-200/F is definitely on the cards for this year.  And typically the 300ER follows shortly after.

This seems a pretty immoral statement to me.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).
