What is your absolute favourite airport scenery for P3D?

Featured Replies

Really curious to know what airport scenery P3D users place above all others, maybe this can become a thread where others can discover places they have never been or even thought of visiting.

With that in mind, my absolute favourite airport scenery in P3D (5.3) is WFSS's ZSPD Shanghai Pudong. Textures are great, butter smooth performance even with 200+ AIG AI in and around the airport, I'm still averaging between 35 to 45 fps. Nightlighting is first class, not too bright, just right.

It's somewhere I am highly unlikely to visit IRL so I have no real frame of reference, but I still find myself coming and going from here (virtually) more often then not, I am currently loading 300+ pax onto a Thai 77W for a trip to Suvarnabhumi, and will return with the next 5 to 10 flights.

MSFS 2024 | PMDG 777-300ER | FBW A380X | Fenix A320 | ini A350

Whilst my options are extremely limited (since I only fly around the UK and Netherlands), the most impressive airport package that I have installed is the original version of FlyTampa EHAM Amsterdam Schiphol. Quite how such a massively detailed airport runs so well on my very modest PC with 150+ detailed custom AI planes on the ground and in the air (and with ORBx TrueEarth Netherlands at maximum detail levels surrounding it) is a mystery that will probably never be solved

There's no such thing like the favorite airport for me nowadays. I try to fly from airport to airport to visit all the payware I have. On such a tour, I rediscovered Samedan LSZS from ORBX. They did not only the airport but also a good part of the surroundings. I was astonished while flying through the valley of the Engadin, that I could recognize St. Moritz in the sim like I know it from real world visits.

The airport is good for business jets and GA planes. I did a flight from Caiolo, LILO in Italy crossing the Alps in the A2A Cherokee 180. This is pretty difficult flying VFR and getting close to the cloud base above and the mountains below you. On some weather it's better to return, than to crash.

This is on approach of runway 03, the city of St. Moritz on the left lakeside

and finally an impression of the airport

WFSS's ZSPD Shanghai Pudong.

a tough call vs their VHHH ..... the ISS upgrade of WSSS is almost except WFSS has better operational features (eg low visibility daytime taxiway lighting)

all have great textures etc ..... but a good airport needs to have operations "integrety"

for now, cheers

I share your "approach" (pun intented) 😉

And I'm not attracted by large airports nor liners, but by scenic airports, like

I just "rediscovered" Darrington Mun (1S2)...

ZSPD from WFSS is excellent and one of my favorites.  I do like their VHHH a lot as well.

besides those, t2g MCO/LFPG and FT EHAM/LAS are on the top of my list.

A gentle reminder to limit your screenshots to a maximum of 4 please. And whatever you do, do not quote a post containing them. Have consideration for users browsing the forum on phones with caps on bandwidth.

This is a hard question for me, I have a lot of favorites.

When it’s mid winter & we’re searching for sunshine,  StMaartin TNCM by FlyTampa is my favorite.

I actually flew into Kai Tak in July,1989, in real life. Flew on a 747 from JFK over the Arctic route to Japan, and then on to Hong Kong.  I went there for business, but it turned out to be more of a non-business trip. It was THE Sunday that the tragedy happened in Tiananmen Square on that day.  I was supposed to go to China, but I was not allowed, and I stayed in Kowloon (Hong Kong) for 10 days.  I got 2 suits custom made and had a wonderful visit there. What a MEMORY! Hong Kong was a wonderful city, and it wasn't until 1997 that China made Hong Kong part of their country.

I still love hitting that Checkerboard and turning a strong right into Kai Tak.  Great airport, but very dangerous to land there.  So beautiful!

WFSS VHHH is really great and goes well with the SamScene Hong Kong scenery

My favourite is always FlyTampa KLAS

Since we are on Hong Kong an honorable mention to FlyTampa's VHHX Kai Tak scenery which was supported from FS9 to P3D V5 which is incredible...

Big fan of anything flightbeam but ft cyul could be at the top for me. If i could get consistant performance then it would be ft cyyz hands down.

system i9 10850K NVidia RTX3090 24GB Samsung SSD980 m.2 1TB (x2) Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD Seagate 2TB external drive Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB SSD Asus B460M-PLUS Mobo 32GB GSkill DDR4 3000mhz Ram using P3D v5.3

Well, when it comes to which airport - even in real life - is the most beautiful, it's clearly Munich, EDDM.
I simply don't know of a more beautiful one.

Unfortunately, the best scenery for P3D (yes, even for the MSFS) is grotty at best.

Therefore, for me, the best created airports in P3D are FlightBeam/JetStreamDesign Toulouse LFBO, but also WFSS Shanghai and Hong Kong.
I also like DigitalDesign Tivat, FlyTampa Corfu or ORBX Innsbruck very much.

Kind regards, Matthias
