Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Announce Trailer

Featured Replies

I just watched a YTuber video commenting on the trailer. Assumptions without fact beyond your wildest dreams!  And people feed into the commentary with belief!

Also let think about how announcement of MSFS2024  may cause stagnation of development and consumer readiness to invest to something that may soon  become obsolete. Definitely announcement went way ahead of good explanations and road map.

Yeah, because a 2 minute trailer is going tell you everything the new sim is going to offer...

The one in the trailer isn't Cowansim.  My bad, I worded that poorly.  I just meant the H125 we have in the sim currently isn't HPG its Cowansim.  I've edited the original post to clarify.

Yes I know that and what you meant thanks. Weird, if I have to bet I still will bet that HPG is involved in that 2024 version a lot, too much coincidences.

And if not with more reasons my other post:

I think like in the past, they have been working hard all this time making the 4K cinematic video with their wishes and goals, and now to work to achieve a result the most near possible. Awesome video.

Just watched the trailer and was excited to see a CL-215/415/515 (? not sure which) waterbomber included.  These have been very active in my part of the world recently and it will be great to be able to fly them in the sim.

Watching the trailer, the clouds look identical to what we have now, except they seem to be darker underneath on thick clouds. Improved lighting?

Seems like two basic groups. One that sees flight simulator as a flight simulator first and would like to some basic things (papi lights, ILS etc.) modeled at least as properly as FSX did and really likes to see aircraft modeled (functionally) as near as possible to the real world counterpart to learn about it. A good view outside the plane is appreciated, but it's secondary to the fidelity of the simulator.

The other group could really care less about that and just wants to see the outside world modeled and the aircraft just used as a means to move around and the simpler the flight model the better. It's not about aviation to them, it's about computer graphics. They also want arcade game features like missions and to walk through airports. This second group probably has far more numbers and has the loudest voice online. So this is where FS is headed.

Good on you! The animated smoke and fire definitely looked impressive! We need to hear from @HPG

Fully for supporting Asobo and I expect mods to be backward compatible although I fully expect most devs will charge extra for upgrading which will be annoying. PMDG 100 percent will charge a ton of money to bring their stuff over.

Looks like they added a lot of requested features:

  • Seasons
  • Weather Update
  • Real World AI Liveries

What else do you guys think they snuck in to the new game?

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Jorg "we'll be supporting MSFS for ten years"

....2 years later

"Hey let's screw everyone over and release a sequel with no communication or specifics for anyone so they can play a guessing game!"

Microsoft  "Win10 will be the last version of Windows"

... several years later  "except for Windows 11"

The 'half glass empty' side :

We spend many 1,000's $$$$ to upgrade from 30xx gpu to 40xx , from ssd to nvme, from 11th gen CPU to 13th, AM4 to AM5, DDr4 to DDR5 - every year or few years  .... etc etc etc

But $60 - $100 for software update after 4 years (with free updates every month in bewtween) ... We lose the plot !!!!

I can't imagine the system requirements increasing that much if it's still on the X-Box.

The biggest question I have is why is the airbus and Da62 pilot walking around with their headsets on?
