August 30, 20232 yr I am open to a bit of reasonable discussion on it. I was expecting more information by now, especially from Gamescom. From what I have seen, I will probably end up buying it, as I just see it as a natural progression from 2020 with compatibility for the add-ons, but lets face it, it will be a mixed bag of newer graphics, extra performance, and new activities, but I expect some of the 2020 issues will remain in there to start with. For me, I am wondering why I don't always enjoy it as much as the old FSX / P3D, and I am putting it down to the ground / air interaction. It just doesn't feel very satisfying when taking off and landing, especially with the snaking around on the ground without any inertia. They change directions like paper planes sometimes. Hopefully they will attend to this in 2024. That and the ground friction model have been talked about a lot. The A2A Comanche is great for this of course, but that has to use the external Accusim model. Also, hopefully Working Title will get an extended contract to continue working their magic. August 30, 20232 yr Its one thing to ask for improvement or additional features. As Dermot above stated that is stuff most people can support. What Is baffling is the request for improvement being couched on the belief that the big bad xbox is the reason the sim is so called not going to be improved or going in the wrong direction. Just ask for the improvement. No need to divide the userbase. It's strangely similar to my kids... one says something and the other reacts in a big way (which the other just loooooves). Perhaps we should just NOT say anything and move onto the next post? August 30, 20232 yr Oddly, the thing I'm looking forward to the most with the 2024 release is the crop dusting. I have an odd fascination w/ agriculture (I'll watch Youtube videos about harvesting/planting/cultivating/baling/etc. for fun) and there's a youtuber who flies a crop duster and will post videos of himself flying his "missions" and talking while he does so. For something so mundane, it's quite thrilling to watch him drop to about 12 feet above the crops and pull up barely over the trees at the end of the row. There's one video where he actually has to stay just a few feet off the ground after take off to go UNDER a power line because he has no other options. I have no idea how close to reality their mission types will be, but being able to play-act in something like this will be great fun if the execution is at least halfway decent.

Activities ? It could be very nice if reasonably well done. I look forward with curiosity to the air firefighting. Scooping water from lake, flying through extremely hot air while targeting small areas to dump the load, it can be interesting. expect some of the 2020 issues will remain in there to start with.Oh yeah... I am fairly convinced that their listening mode is mostly a posture except when they goof on a major scale (read SU5). Actually they have the rigidity of very large companies. For me, I am wondering why I don't always enjoy it as much as the old FSX / P3D, and I am putting it down to the ground / air interaction. Do I like the lousy ground physics and the absence of water physics ? Nope. You know that I am not exactly a fànboy 😁 but t in spite of this aggravating flaw (and others) MSFS is the best sim I've ever played with. FSX was supposed to be a better FS9 (the question to know if it was is still open) and P3D was marginally better than FSX. FS20 might not be a quantum leap but I enjoy it rather more than them. Great aircraft, getting better and better, the world and a not so shabby weather depiction. Que demande le peuple ? The A2A Comanche is great for this of course, but that has to use the external Accusim model. Little geniuses in their garden toolshed doing their magic. Business as usual. Flight simulation wouldn't be what it is without them. Actually, it wouldn't exist anymore. August 30, 20232 yr What's great is that there's something for nearly everyone in this thread to find exciting. Jorg said they consulted with experts from around the world to ensure that the missions would be as authentic as possible. Here's the rub though, while that sounds promising, we still can't know to what extent they're going with it. There certainly is lots of evidence that a ton of work went into having the tools in place to make it work (talking about things like very realistic rope physics and so on here) but "authentic" could mean anything. What I am hoping for is something as detailed as the train sim Derail Valley where not only are the mechanics nailed down but finances also have a big part to play. I want to get monetary rewards for completing missions then have to use those rewards to pay for fuel and maintenance, new equipment etc lol. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

Agreed, and I'm certainly going into it with an open mind knowing that sometimes Jorg's ambitions outpace the realities of their resources. I, too, hope for something super detailed and well-thought out with all the bells and whistles, but my expectations are more in line w/ something that sort of meets my hopes about halfway 🙃 As always: hope for the best, expect the worst, and when it inevitably lands somewhere in between I'll be relatively happy, haha.

Yeah I watch that guy sometimes. I would not be able to talk about my job and fly like that at the same time hehe. Ironic that some people think crop dusting is a gamey xbox thing. IRL it's one of the most technical and dangerous areas of aviation.
