Always have anywhere from 1-2gb free. 1-2GB free is a very low amount of available VRAM because that's only what MSFS has reserved. Then means sometimes 1GB for any spare swap / background / Windows visual processes / any programs you might have running on other monitors etc. [MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]

The other one is "memory usage \ process", but this one will just show the memory used by the sim process, same as using dev mode. As an example, I'm parked in the airport now and Afterburner "memory usage" is showing 6.6GB used and in dev mode it just shows 5.1 used. Memory used \ process in Afterburner is showing 5.1 also. You can also check in task manager, "Dedicated GPU memory" will show the same as "memory usage" in Afterburner. October 3, 20232 yr The argument that the sim will use whatever VRAM is there is a bit flawed, because then nobody would ever have enough VRAM. In my experience, the sim is using around 14-15GB VRAM at the absolute most. And that was the case with my previous 3090 as well as my current 4080. As a sidenote, maybe this will be alleviated in the FS2024 version. Or at least I hope so. They were talking about that the system will download whatever textures you need, and purge the rest quicker. But FS2020 also does that. When they introduced it we had the issue where you would turn around and it looked like a nuke went off with things popping in and out of view. Sorry for the digression. October 3, 20232 yr Try with Objects LOD at a lower setting too. October 3, 20232 yr It always sucks when the sim was running fine before an update and after you have to adjust settings to get the sim to perform as it did before. I had to lower a couple settings as well to get the sim to run as good as it did pre SU13. At least visually the sim still looks good even with lower graphic settings, not even noticeable the change.😏 FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
October 3, 20232 yr In my expericence, and I know this sounds counter intuitive but, I've raised my graphics settings to put more load on the GPU and give the CPU some headroom, this improved my stuttering immediately. I'm running an 8G 3060ti with a Ryzen 5 3600. Most settings on High with a bunch on Ultra also and 1440p. I'm getting a consistent 35-45fps. October 3, 20232 yr You can monitor your VRAM usage in Dev-mode when you are at big 3-party airports, when your VRAM capacity is overloaded, the bar will turn dark red and the stuttering starts despite good fps, 12 GB VRAM is not enough for me, and I only use 3440X1440, but the problem only occur with DX-12, with DX-11 there is no problem as the memory management is significantly better. Maybe I’m paranoid, but I’ve come to believe that the game does cache downloaded data even if you set it to not use a rolling cache. They keep it quiet but they do it to reduce data loads on their servers. Delete rolling cache at every game launch.
