June 10, 20241 yr Jorg did say last Q&A not to get too excited for FSExpo. So I wonder what they're actually going to talk about.

I think it's not related to info, he's probably hinting there will be no Demo available to fly in there. I mean, 5 months prior to the official release, some might think they would showcase it in there. They will probably talk about everything. They've already talked a lot last year. SeedyL's words in the official forums: Quote Between now and November 19, we will be revealing much more information about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to the community, including answering some of your most common questions. We’re confident core simmers will be very excited with what we have to share. June 10, 20241 yr What Seedy also posted in the official forums about missions/career simming in MSFS 2024:https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/msfs2024-november-19th-2024/644877/136The career mode activities are very much designed for “the simmer”. Everything you can do in career mode will be a simulation of a real-world flight operation conducted daily by actual professional working pilots, not a “game-like” fictional activity like flying through imaginary floating rings or whatever. Our team has worked very closely with actual organizations which conduct these flight operations such as search & rescue, coast guard, aerial firefighting, and more to ensure Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 simulates these ops in the most accurate and true-to-life manner. June 10, 20241 yr To be honest, I didn't see a sky in the trailer that the current sim couldn't produce. Yes, there were more varied clouds in the trailer than the current live weather can produce - but who says that was live weather? Could easily have been presets, in fact that seems more likely... And in that case, looked pretty status quo. Which is not a bad thing by any means... But yeah, I didn't see much difference. Andrew Crowley
June 10, 20241 yr Seriously this looks as good as Red Dead Redemption 2! We are getting the graphics upgrades and ground details I have always wanted. The ground textures and grass/flowers etc are amazing. Most Overlooked Feature! Simmers are Overlooking one of the Greatest improvements here. To see all the passengers walking down the Jetway to board the aircraft. And the woman captain is seen outside walking! And then seen sitting in the captain seat in the cockpit. This is clear evidence of First Person mode in FS2024! So it will be great to land a small plane somewhere. Get out and enjoy the surroundings! What is still Unknown I was kindof hoping that Asobo would shock everyone and we would see some small rodents (such as squirrels) jump out from the grass! Not sure how good the Environment sounds are due to the music playing Overall trailer (graphics) score: 9.75 Edited June 10, 20241 yr by Greazer http://youtube.com/c/Greazer

June 11, 20241 yr 2024 excitement too was too much for avsim? Lol The sky lighting in the trailer definitely looks better than what we have now and there was no evidence of volcano clouds making a return. Also, clouds directly hit by sunlight look a lot brighter than they do in the current sim. There's also evidence that the lighting shown in the trailer is actually raytraced. June 11, 20241 yr Well, it looks like it is a victory for those that wanted Flight Simulator to be turned into an arcade game. Congratulations. I hope you score high points for rescuing little Johnny from the cliff, perhaps even get 'high score'. In real life, you have to seriously learn how to operate an aircraft before you go off and fly any missions. I notice they show a lot of fancy arcade game graphics of 'missions', but don't say much about actually learning how to operate an aircraft. I'm guessing you'll be able to hop in that helicopter and be out scoring rescue points in an hour or less. Just like the real world.

But as this thread grows, it appears that some are executing a missed approach after viewing the trailer. Most users appear to land though! MSFS2020 has several excellent training sessions that cover all aspects of flight from beginner level to expert, and I assume they will remain in 2024 (why wouldn't they?). The fact that MSFS2024 includes missions should in no way compromise its ability to meet the needs of simmers of all stripes, as MSFS2020 already does to an amazing degree. As for "arcade games", this is an outworn term of derision that has been passe at least since FSX, even FS9. I challenge any arcade (if they still exist) to come up with anything remotely resembling MSFS2020, let alone MSFS2024.
June 11, 20241 yr Some of theses posts are ridiculous. This new version looks absolutely incredible. The amount of detail that's included in this base version, along with the ability to scale performance to XBOX and PC, why are people complaining??? The clouds? WOW 😂 What these folks have been able to accomplish is nothing short of a miracle. AMD 9950X3D | 64 GB RAM | RTX 5090 FMR: 747 FO, 757/767 CAPT, 737 Check Airman Current 777 CAPT

Have you really not read or seen all the info out there about all what MS/Asobo have said and shown about what's coming in MSFS 2024 since last year, or are you just turning the blinders on to make such sweeping and non-sensical statements like MSFS is being "turned into an arcade game"? If you really are only now learning about MSFS 2024 via this trailer #2, then perhaps these would be of help to make you understand about *all* the improvements coming to the sim, especially where aspects of core simulation are concerned: FAQ: https://www.flightsimulator.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-faq/ (note especially the "Will there be improvements to the core simulator technology in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024?" question) The MSFS community manager's recent posts with clarifications and pointers to info given the same concerns by others: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/msfs2024-november-19th-2024/644877/136 https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/msfs2024-november-19th-2024/644877/278 Wealth of info they shared at FS Expo last year in June 2023 around core simulation improvements coming (including aerodynamics/physics, systems, avionics, world rendering, weather, multi-threading performance, etc) : https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/645486-new-msfs-2024-trailer-release-date-11192024/?do=findComment&comment=5111426 And re: these missions that are being simulated in MSFS 2024, those are actual real-world aviation activities, far from "arcade games".. so MSFS 2024, in *addition* to simulating free-form flight we're all used to and improving said simulation from v2020, also will now simulate other aspects of aviation. That's a win win, and "victory" to all of us who love flight simulators.
