Would have been nice to see something that wasn't just "missions and adventures" ...but I guess this was targeted at the Xbox demographic, so maybe it makes more sense

According to Jorge, the "Xbox demographic" makes up about half the player base.

And what of it, anyway? I can't think of anything more boring than simulating yet another transcon flown by a fully automated fms from the minute after lift off to the last 60 seconds on final.

I LOVE missions because they force me out of my comfort zone.

It's one of the reasons I like flying multiplayer in DCSW - it's something different every single time.

  • I'm really tired of this argument. You don't want missions? Fine, just do your thing as you used to. No one calls DCS an arcade platform even though it has plenty of missions, so why say that about MS

The only thing I see that has gotten zero improvements are clouds. Can't believe that this wasn't a major focus.

But they might be.  Time will tell.

Right, it's 'woke' to represent a cross-section of users in MSFS. Get over yourself

The flightsim demographic is overwhelmingly white male.

Get over it.

(And for the record, I couldnt care less - as long as the best pilot is driving the plane).

You are not bothered about weather, clouds or flight model in a flight sim?

No.

The weather and clouds are more than acceptable to me with the various preset packages I have. I don't need historical weather for my sort of flying.

And no, I'm not bothered about flight models. As long as an aircraft moves smoothly through the sky I'm fine with that. I am interested in this as a flight simulator, not a pilot training or replication tool. I enjoy flying through the air like a bird, not like a B777 Captain. I just want to travel through the environment, exploring the scenery, and doing so in whatever is available and takes my fancy. One day that might be an A-318, next day a Vulcan. Then maybe the MD-11. Or perhaps an F-16. Or how about the R66? Maybe the Bell 47. Oooh, I know, I haven't been up in the B777 for a while.

With all these wonderful aircraft to fly around in, and with the jaw-droppingly amazing scenery world down there, I have no interest in sitting in a cockpit staring at dials when I could be outside watching a mechanical object of beauty gracefully flying across wondrous scenery.

As long as the aircraft is not jumping up and down of its own volition, or some obsessive developer insists on my aircraft reacting to conditions I don't care about, then no, I'm not looking for stuff like accurate rates of climb, correct angle of the dangle or whatever. There is FLIGHT simming, and there is PILOT simming. I absolutely love this as a flight simulator but I have less than zero interest in being a pilot.

I realise that puts me in a minority here, and I'm happy for all you piloty folk (and I've seen some amazing cockpits shown on here - impressive enough to make even me want to become a button-pusher) who live and breath that stuff, but please recognise that there is more going on in the sim these days than just flying procedurally from A to B. And I suspect these other aspects are going to become ever more prominent in years to come.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Nice hair structure ... will it move realistically with the wind?

You know I love my X-Plane.

And I love my MSFS.

But mostly I love giving credit where it's due.

And a GREAT deal of credit is due to Asobo.

Can't wait to try out 2024!

It may just be that they cannot do much more given the performance/quality dynamic. We will surely learn more at the Expo in a couple of weeks with their presentation.

Anyone else concerned that 2024 may be *only* career mode? They sure are leaning into it hard. Not great for simmers

I fly in most of the sims.

I only buy high fidelity add-ons.

I read mostly IRL PoH/FCOMs.

And I can hardly wait to give the new features a try. 😊

Nice Trailer. Accurate AI Traffic, Solid ATC, proper ground handling of AI, all Tropical water masks, and accurate weather radar that can be exported to third-party aircraft are must-haves on day one. Those are all things that should have been in 2000 from the beginning, and none of them exist four years later.

MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad

Understandable concern, given the animation on the XP ones does indeed make it look like they’re flying.

Clouds still look terrible as they are in MS2020. Zero density to them or variations and types. Joke for a flightsim to have this for clouds.

Have you seen the beautiful FSX clouds? Now they were nice 😉

Right? I mean, I respect everyone’s opinion, but sometimes I feel I’m living in an alternative reality, and other people have access to other super secret simulators with really amazing clouds, super realistic aircrafts and all. And for that reason they think MSFS is so underwhelming visually.

Lots of space to improve, but IMO 2020 is the best. 2024 will naturally and indisputably replace it.

Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

Is this the first time a default sim comes with actual real-world liveries? It’s one of the first things I noticed but I don’t think we’ve touched on it at all in 8 pages. Apologies if I’ve missed it.

Hey, Im STILL excited when ram/vram consumption doesn't give me CtDs 😁

Wonder if they're hinting that those ships and boats are pilotable 👀

Potentially nice catch!
