Jorg brings it up every now and gain in the Q&As. He says they have to actually license all the liveries from the respective airlines. I thought he said they got almost all of them already but can't remember right off. Jeff D. June 9, 20241 yr Perhaps someone can comment further or have insights regarding tall city buildings/skyscraper night lighting. I may not be getting my improved city night lighting in 2024 - No close ups shown. Images of Dubai and Rio de Janeiro tall buildings looked very dark in the distance. Suburb night lighting seems similar to 2020 and okay! Hope I’m wrong as there are still many months till release. It’s one of the first things I noticed but I don’t think we’ve touched on it at all in 8 pages. Apologies if I’ve missed it. I think it is, even the older MSFS came with fictional liveries. But there’s a reason for that, that’s a grey area, companies might sue developers using their IP. It’s easier for the developers to just use fictional stuff that reassembles the real ones. Jörg is tirelessly trying to reach airlines so they can use the liveries, but since the pandemic they have other bigger issues to deal with (according to Jörg it’s being hard to reach them all). 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
June 9, 20241 yr Was I the only one who noticed the Maverick Top Gun trestle bridge homage? Perhaps one of the new Challenges? I'd love to fly whatever portions of that route are actually real. Well, at least we know at some point we'll have to cold start a Tomcat and escape KTVL with a smashed nose gear 😂 Also, looks like we're gonna have TWO water bombers in the sim? I've never seen an Air Tractor float plane before. COOL.

I don’t catch all the Q&As and I obviously missed it in the first trailer. That’s exciting, though. Will make life easier.

June 9, 20241 yr The release date appears to be solid, and not far from the historical August/September release dates of FS past. Overall impression is that this 2024 world feels alive and vibrant with bustle, intent and purpose. That hit me in the first few seconds with the busy airport. The refresh rate seemed to bring character and life to the cities. I remember there was talk about 2024 being a lighter weight client. Perhaps more rendering taking place on Azure before even hitting the local CPU, GPU. 2020 has given us four years of incredible flights and memories so far. I can hardly wait for the next chapter to unfold. June 9, 20241 yr The thing that stands out to me in this trailer is the ground, trees, and foliage. It is really stunning to see all the colors, tree types and even flowers (violets in the camera with deer clip). I remember Jorg saying that they were going to be 'hyper localized' because they were going to be streamed in instead of residing as libraries on your hard drive. That will also lower the footprint on your hard drive. You can clearly see different tree types in the various clips. The A400 you can see palm trees. Yosemite looks really great. The list goes on. I doubt I'll see those much as I fly tube liners mostly, but you can tell the overall ground looks 100X better also. The desert shots look really good also. Hopefully they fixed the transition from around 10K or whatever Jorg said it was a while back they he wanted to improve. You can also distinguish the branches from the leaves better in the trees. They don't look all melted anymore. A far as the A330, someone said above that it would kill sales for payware. Nothing could be further from the truth. The market is wide open for a full featured 3rd party aircraft. It's great that 3rd part devs are helping to bring the default aircraft to a much better standard than before, but much more can be added on the payware side. Just look at the new ini 320 NEO. Just fine for default, but not actually that much NEO about it from the systems side. Not knocking them, just pointing it out. What worries me is the reverse on their payware side with the 350 and 380, but that's another discussion for another day. Didn't really see anything new with the weather. Looks about the same to me. I think they were showcasing the ground in this one. We may not know more until much closer to release. Even with the re-write of the weather engine and all the new data (fire and TORs) that they showcased off in the last trailer, I don't think they'll be able to do much with cloud types and what not with the current rendering engine. Hope I'm wrong. Jorg said they were giving 2 presentations at expo. One of the is the marketplace I think and one of them is the sim. Overall, it's looking really great. Can't wait for the multicore improvements as well as the last little bit of the flight model and physics that still haunt us like the transition from ground to flight that causes a lot of the skidding.
