September 19, 20241 yr I've seen a few posts throwing around the usual "all eye-candy, but they're not improving the physics/flight model, etcetera" and that leaves me perplexed. I'm wondering if these people are reading/watching the previews, or at least the right previews, and the interviews. Unfortunately, I can't read/watch much from other people because I'm at 39,000 feet on an Air China flight, and the internet suuuuucks (it's already a miracle I managed to tear a hole in the Great Wall of Chinese internet lol), but I can't imagine many have failed to mention that physics, aerodynamics, flight models, weather, and all the "simulation" aspects of the sim received a lot of attention and they have all been greatly improved. The eye-candy has been improved as well, but that's obvious. Immersion is important in any simulation, and at times the two are interconnected, for instance in the physical interaction with the ground. What matters to me is that the aircraft never felt more alive and dynamic than this in any simulator I ever tried. Indcidentally, since someone has asked about traffic, the new models and matching was not implemented yet in the build we tested. We did get to see them in static screenshots, and it's crazy the amount of models they have created in terms of airliners, general aviation, and business jets. I look forward to seeing airports truly populated with all sorts of aircraft. I think they have said something like 95% model matching in terms of civilian aircraft. We'll still need the help of livery makers since for these they are at 25%, but the range of models is absolutely mindboggling. Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com

I'm debating 2 x 32 or just buy 2 more 16 sticks...in other words should I dare fill all 4 slots or stick with 2 slots. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
September 19, 20241 yr Glad waited to buy new rig for this.... SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

I don't know if it's still true with modern ram, but in the past it was usually better to have more sticks so the memory bandwidth usage is spread out. Edited September 19, 20241 yr by Tuskin38

A lot of times in a VA or something we'll have someone who cant, or doesn't want a Navigraph sub. Or on Vatsim folks without charts. I think here we've seen a fair amount of folks not want to use SimBrief and use the built-in flight planners. Now that these are much better in 2024 is a major win.
