An improvement in the right direction is enough for me. Not asking for revolution in this aspect.. I just want to know what the updates are considering nothing has been said yet. That is also discounting a 1:500 model of the AN225 is probably $70 alone. Being a pedantic analyst (which I am) and these exercises are fun anyway, there are a few ways to look at the maths on these. For this, I am kinda separating out the big collectors edition with the physical goods, but the math still kinda comes out the same. As an aside, those physicals items have a value outside of a time used metric, and can be resold. None of this, to get it out of the way early is a criticism on how people spend their money. So. those of you splashing for the expensive versions I truly hope you get enjoyment from them by whatever metric you use. The basic way, which you've done, is to take the total cost of the thing, divide it by a denominator (hours, times used, whatever) and come up with a "dollars per x".. Now, in this case each of the editions includes the digital items from the previous pack. The base pack is $70, and the Aviators is $200. Taking a dollars/hour metric if you fly the sim 200 hours, you have $1 hour. Which is fantastic. But, to get the true $1/hour you would need to exclusively fly just the things in the Aviators pack. So, you'd fly something like the Junkers 200 times. If you just fly the new MAX, that extra cost brings the ROI down. Lastly, the Aviators pack does have a sort of investment on future actions if you will. One may regret buying it because they never take advantage of the extra stuff, but the person who buys it will never go "crud. They actually updated those Famous Flyers, now I wish I got the Aviators version. Or, you may be uncertain if you'd like the Junkers, but what the heck you own it, let's take it for a spin. Calculating ROI on entertainment items is fun. My wife only watches Netflix and pretty much every day. Seriously by any metric she is coming out to like $.000000000002/whatever. I however, do fall into this trap with things like my World of Warcraft sub, or my Say Intentions sub. I try to say "if I use this, so it's like $1/hour, it's worth it" I've had to broaden any metrics I see this and instead look at more of a rolling average. We are all whales in our way.
September 19, 20241 yr I am pretty excited. I always liked the career mode in truck simulator and I look forward to that in MSFS 2024. I am also excited at the variety and difficulty grades of the missions. Objective based gameplay I always enjoyed for variety. The huge amount of planes is also very exciting and the air traffic. There is so much being added. I do share the concern on the ATC or lack of ATC mention which is a shame I do like using the basic ATC just for a slightly more immersive experience I am not looking for a full blown VATSIM thing really but the MSFS ATC was pretty bad at times to the point even as a completely casual user I ran into issues. But overall I am pretty excited.

Yeah I'm wondering if buying the collectors/aviator's edition will secure something down the road. Like half way through 2022 (or maybe 2023), MS announced that 2020 Premium users get 33% off any Asobo marketplace product. So that was really nice! I didn't buy that many but it was still a nice gesture to fan's who did commit to the higher end version. And, people like me who purchased 2020 Premium, started with not-so-premium addons, that became superb down the road. (Cirrus, Longitude, B787 etc). Additionally, I see the base product as barely a drop in the bucket, compared to what I've spent over the last 4 years on Hardware AND Software. I've been a simmer for over 3 decades, a beta tester for over 2, I love tinkering with sim, and I'd enjoy supporting the developers (even "big bad" Microsoft). | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
