Although certain people who think they know about software development will disagree (they know more about making personal attacks for sure though), it is so simple.  There should have been a beta.  There should have been a beta like we always do.

How much effort would it have taken?  The update was pushed out to beta testers anyway (although at a later time than the main release for some reason), so how much effort would it have taken to have a beta, and would it have caused any anguish if the update was delayed by a few weeks to enable this to happen?  No, I can't see how.

Anyway, apart from this being Asobos issue again for poor quality control, I am hearing the old USA language pack issue has also raised its ugly head during this update.
Basically, it you are outside the USA, you need to install the USA language pack with all options, otherwise it can lead to a crash.  It doesn't have to be set as the default language, just installed.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

it's probably cool if we end the arguing and get back to talking about the update itself.  The line of code with the issue has been identified.  Navigraph gave a work around.  Asobo will likely fix it also on their end today and make this a moot point.

There's still the World Hub bug as well, that needs sorting so I hope they've at least got a plan to rectify that ASAP.

The community should push for updates not to be mandatory, this is the history of MFS for the last 4 years.

It's been mentioned numerous times before, but because MSFS is very server/client based, that's probably unlikely.  In fact, most games that are heavily server/client based, are just like MSFS and only allow 1 version.  Forget about MSFS, even on your phone, if you are using an app that is also very server/client based and is complex in nature, you are forced to update the app before you can login to that app on your phone. Now MSFS is probably way more complex than your typical phone app, so it's even less likely that MSFS will ever allow you to stay on older versions.

The solution to this has always been a public open beta (and it's why people like me pushed for this back in 2020/2021).  A public open beta allows people to stay on the stable version, until the bugs and issues are worked out in the open beta version.

That won't happen because of the way the simulation is programmed from top to bottom, what they can do is improve Beta Testing but alas they have not for the last 4 years.

Is is just me or does the A320v2 have vastly improved performance? If this is an indicator of how things will be with the A350 then we're in for a treat!

Anybody having issues with the table of the A2A Comanche after the AAU3 update ?

Mine doesn't work anymore, the tablet home page shows a blank/blue page and I can't click it. Same for a friend of mine. We don't have Navigraph, for info...

It's not a matter of programming, it's a matter of support.

They want EVERYONE to have the same base version at the same time. That is easier to troubleshoot. You tell the customer to switch off all add-ons and then you you search the issue.

But now imagine having to do that with various versions of the base sim.

Nah, I totally get why they force updates.

Well, they may not support anyone who is not fully up to date but at least we can choose to wait a few days and see if everything goes well before hitting the button.

There are many people around here retired or with a lot of free time to enjoy, I as a father of two babies can not afford much time for myself and when you take some time for yourself is very angry that you spoil those few hours of leisure for these things, because this is not something punctual.

If it turns out to be fully featured and well designed and integrated I can foresse users dropping their Navigraph licenses which are, that's a fact, too expensive...

First off, that's a mighty big "If".  Simbrief is a very mature, full-featured, real-world style planner with solid integration.  Whatever 2024 brings to the table will have to be REALLY good to move me to a different planner.  Further, the data support will need to be robustly whole world.  Then there are the third party aircraft who only use Navigraph data, as well as the TDS GTNxi GPS units.  As a GA flyer you couldn't pry my TDS from my cold dead hands.   Unless these third parties move to internal data, which I find unlikely, Navigraph will soldier on.

And finally, the "too expensive" part is an opinion, not a fact.  Given all the pieces of the puzzle that it currently fills for me, I find Navigraph pricing to be more than fair for the value provided.  Of course, YMMV and I respect that, but that's why it's an opinion.
