I'm having an enjoyable flight around Cape Town.  It looks really good.  The Lossless generation program works and I'm solid at 30 FPS on a gaming laptop with a 3080.  The distant terrain looks a bit better, which is important flying around somewhere like Cape Town with a lot of distant mountains.

I am getting microstuttering every 10 seconds though or during a quick pan, which I don't get on FS2020.  So super rock solid frames, microstuttering for a second, and then rock solid frames.  I'm assuming I'm not the only one and it's to do with the servers, or my end? I have 150 mbs and am currently in the UK.

My airbus stick seems to be working, but it was a nightmare to set up, reverse axis, the works.  Horrible.

And yes, understand it's a tech alpha.  There is loads to enjoy.

Then I spawned in the Czech Republic and was met with beautiful autumn colours.  I forgot about that!

The problem with pretty much everything being online is I've no idea if the stuttering is caused by having too high settings, or because of stuff their end.

Its the Backspace key now.

70-80% for myself on GPU currently, on a 3080.

Well...

installed flawlessly.

I just did a reinstall though because the first install tricked me since in MSFS 2024 it installs under your xBox folder while 2020 allows for the core app ( just a few Gigas ) to install there and the simulator folder can be set on a different folder / partition...

In my 2nd install I had to say xBox installs into F:... because that's where I store my sims..

The few flights in the C172 revealed pretty much the same I have in 2020. I see no noticeable difference, in flight and even on the ground ?  Still pretty bumpy in flight with turbulence... the 172 shaking as if it didn't have weight / inertia...

Tried real weather which was not bad looking, then a preset.

Looks like there is a bit more of "activity" inside convective clouds.

Will try to find some more spare time to test it...

It occupies **only** around 9 GB ??? Looks like it's mostly streamed ?

I don't like the controller settings interface, although now we can finally create different profiles for each aircraft, but it's a bit clumsy...

Something’s not right there. It’s a world away from 2020 with inertia, friction on the ground etc.

You can limit fps with nvidia control panel, or RTSS. It helps with GPU load (and temps).

Been flying around Cape Town as well. Using DLSS balanced and frame gen off. It feels very smooth for the most part. Cape Town airport looks pretty awful unfortunately.

Not really noticing any stutters unless I'm flicking around the views.

CPU usage is low but video card is being hammered and the fans are kicking up a racket.

This was just a couple flights... Will keep trying and, as I pointed out, just reinstalled it to my sim drive instead of "C :", to where it installed because there is now no option to install the core app under xBox and the sim content to another folder / drive, at least that I was able to find...

Will try to do test flights also in the taildragger and report back again...

I've seen more than one user reporting that they feel the C172 performs a lot more realistically now, so... I will have to try again.

Solved my stuttering with a lossless setting in the app, linking it to Vsync.

The flight dynamics are astonishing.  I flew out of Dunkeswell in Devon which sits on a ridge and you can feel the airflow come up over the Blackdown hills, which 100% happens on a day like today.  I'm located nearby (not in Cape Town at the moment) and the weather is absolutely identical, the lumps and bumps, the autumn colours.

I didn't test that enough yet, but my initial flight with the C172 felt very satisfying, more so than with MSFS2020. It feels nicer, more inertia that I thought the 2020 version was lacking. I can't wait to spend the whole day tomorrow flying. especially ground handling.

I think @sd_flyer had similar comments to you about the 172. That’s very good news, since the both of you are real life pilots.

Downloaded and installed, set up accessibility settings and avatar etc. go to start a flight and CTD everytime.

Updating nvidis drivers as we speak, hopefully thats all it is.

it is pretty obvious in spot view if you yank the yoke left and right. you can now really observe some inertia as the plane moves left and right, while before it looked like you were flying a butterfly or some paper plane.

A friend complained about the same, but he was finally able to test it after a while.

I had no CTDs / stutters / stability quirks in the couple of sessions I jumped into. Will keep testing - at least now I know BACKSPACE alternates between cockpit and outside view, thx to @FrankSalo 👍
