I have a 9800X3D/4090 setup and I don't really run any background programs so I thought I would be fine with 32 since it wasn't being conveyed that I was even utilizing what I currently had. Windows starts managing RAM well before you are completely depleted so you may get a false sense that you aren't needing more than XXGB of memory. I just switched to 64 this week and have noticed MSFS2024 is now utilizing up to ~39GB and it has alleviated some of the scenarios where I was experiencing stutters before.

It may "work fine" with only 32 but for some people there is definitely a benefit to having more.

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Yeah I upgraded over the weekend and find the MSFS is a bit smoother and is definitely using 30-40 GB total system ram so it was worth it.

RAM is cheap right now so easy enough

Even though when I was using 32Gs ram, the usage rate never exceeded 26-27 GB's. But when I upgraded to 64GBs, 2020 and 2024 runs and loads and run much much smoother and my background apps don't seem to affect FS while running. I'm glad that I made the upgrade. Can't go back to 32GBs.

Yeah I watched that one last night and it's definitely convinced me to upgrade since I run other stuff in the background.  While the FPS in sim didn't really change you can see the RAM usage in the in game meter go from red to not red.  Also at one point my swap file shot up by 20GB while testing last night (around 80GB), but I think that was related to a sim crash exiting a flight with the FBW A32NX.  I definitely have some swapping going on not just in MSFS2024 but in titles like Diablo IV as well.  My swap file usage used to sit around 35GB but been playing some games lately that have caused it to increase on average to just sitting at around 50-55GB I assume "in case it's needed" since it doesn't usually go back down very often anymore.

Also watched VR Flightsim Guy's video on it since I do some VR once in a while and the RAM usage was definitely noticeable in his video as well where even though FPS didn't really change, the RAM usage was constantly in the red on 32GB

Just upgraded from 32gb to 64gb and the difference is MASSIVE. Most of my stutters are gone.

Same with me.  Upgraded when the Developer Mode was showing peak RAM usage was exactly 32GB which indicated it was hitting the limits.  After upgrading with my triple screen 4k setup, largely vanilla installation, mostly High settings and a Cessna 182RG it was peaking at 37GB.

I am happy that I upgraded to 64 GB some months ago. It reduced stutters and gave me very stable fps. Now with my new AMD System (x870e/9800x3D) it runs even smoother. I see 30-35 GB RAM usage at demanding areas with ai traffic in complex airliners.

However I just bought 32 more. Do you all see a big difference with 64gb?

Good luck, I bought 4 x 16gb matched sticks to have 64gb but found populating the 4 slots just equaled crashes even if I could get past POST.

this was a recent build X670 Board,  AMD 7950 X3d based system, perhaps Intel systems are more tolerant

That's bad luck. I have read  in HW forums that it is always better to prefer 2 sticks over 4. Was it matched only (exact the same setting, but different purchases) or was it a kit (= 4 tested sticks with same settings). If not the latter, this can lead to problems.

Since the latest beta update, I have seen RAM demand drop significantly.

Prior to this, at EGLL in the Fenix, I was hitting 34GB with ultra settings in 4K.

It has now dropped to 26GB or there abouts and the major stuttering at that particular airport has gone as well.

Big optimisations have been done, obviously.

Not seen it get anywhere near 32GB of ram since the latest update.

I just researched an AM5 upgrade and the RAM configurators (GSkill for example) only show options for 2 x DIMMS.

Yea no way to make it stable with 4 sticks unless you turn the Ram frequency way down, I didnt know when I bought my Ram, I now have 4 matched sticks of 16gb AM5  6000  with 2 of them stuck in a draw doing nothing, anyone looking to buy a pair?
