January 16th, 2025 Development Update - Microsoft Flight Simulator

Microsoft/Asobo are back to their regular development updates with a 2024 bug list and 2020/2024 wishlist included.

They've confirmed (again) that there will be 2024 beta testing available for all platforms starting with SU1. Only 2 of the top 10 bugs are still under investigation, others are planned for SU1/SU2 or partially fixed.

What ignorance is this?  I, like many, have been successfully using 2024 since a week after release.

  • I applaud Asobo for being the type of company that prioritizes the well-being of it's employees over the relentless pursuit of money.

I'm really glad to see that they've figured out the Vram bug relatively quickly. SU2 can't get here soon enough!

Is the inibuilds freeze on flight end bug fixed? They say they can’t repro since December .. I haven’t tried in ages and am away from computer. Is it working for you guys?

I flew the A330 last night and the bug is still there.  I was quite surprised to see them say they couldn’t reproduce it.

Yeah, its the same for me as well. Every time I fly them and end flight it hangs and I have to force shut down the sim.

Maybe it has something to do with the simbrief flight plan integration within the FMS.  Not in their scope?

Stunned in regard to current issues and lack of SDK help to accomplished 3rd party developers. Where are their resources aimed?  MSFS 2028?

List seems rather anemic with too much “under investigation” and some fixes set for SU2, which is a bit off putting, since we don’t know when SU1 will be…

I was hoping for more, sooner.

Someone created a video for the workaround to the inibuilds freezes to walk through what was posted in the thread on the MSFS forums:

Main problems like VRAM Performance problems are planned for SU2 which is god know when and LOD problems are still under investigation?! Main two problems for FS2024. I am not touching this sim for a long the as it seems it will take long time to fix things and I am glad developers went back to 2020.

Exactly my point. I am glad developers went back to 2020. It will take awhile for 2024 to be flyable

At least letting people beta test updates for free will be an improvement, since Asobo charged people $60-200 to beta test FS2024.

I do find it entertaining that one of the reasons Asobo gave for "everything has to be streamed" was "we can push patches faster", when at least a couple of the aircraft (the Albatross and C-17) have had fixes waiting to be pushed since some time before Christmas.
