talk is cheap Chris, they signed off on that release to make money for christmas.

I think it's pretty clear from Jorge's remarks at the start that this was a failure of project management.

The release date was about the last point in the 2024 calender that it could be released within the year '2024'.

I think it worth pointing out again; the value in MSFS lies in the Marketplace, not in sales of the sim itself. They have to account for the fact that in theory everyone could rent the title through Xbox Gamepass.

By releasing the sim without a functioning Marketplace they've got themselves a big headache. No revenue from 2024 for at least the first three months of it's existence  - when interest is highest - and the chilling effect on sales on the 2020 Marketplace.

Not many people will continue to buy for the 'old' sim when there's a new kid on the block and delaying the release of 2024 would have killed sales here even more as the level of anticipation grew even higher.

The really have got themselves between a rock and a hard place right now.

The main problem of the release were the Microsoft servers not FS24, and still servers.... FS24 was already enjoyable in 2D, for me well done launching it in date and let us test it and join the beta, and I am beginning to fly it now and I only fly in VR, 4 months later of the purchase, and since now leaving more and more FS20 I think. I miss unencrypted planes for modders to help to make more flyable and enjoyable some planes faster.

Though they should say that it is in a beta state, and some people would not complain that is not a full release, if you want to pay-support and join to the beta or not, like now in the new FS24 beta, well done, that is what XP-Plane did in XP-11 and I think in XP-12 also in their public releases, and I bought XP-11 anyway too in beta.

Did they said anything about sea traffic?

Not that heard. A pity because it needs sorting out. Ditto Air Traffic

I do have some ships missing, even though I see the ships banner displayed. Is this the error being discussed?  I am seeing virtually all the ships banners in MSFS that I see in a marine traffic app on my tablet.

Quite, but everyone needs a balanced view because it is not doom and gloom for everybody.

Yes, plenty of bugs since release but that does not take away the positives 2024 has brought to Flight Sim.

But see that is where i believe you are 100% wrong. Those ten thousand bugs absolutely take away the positives 2024 has brought to Flight Sim. Because for a huge laundry list of reasons, thousands and thousands of simmers aren’t using 2024. You can’t take away the positives any more than NOT PLAYING IT.

Yeah, the rumors that they released it just for higher Christmas sales is wild and also laughable.

It's just poor project management.  They locked themselves into releasing it in 2024 because 2024 was in the title of the game.  And November 19th is roughly the latest that they could release it in 2024, given that they needed about two to three weeks of hotfixes before the employees left for Christmas holiday.

I already said it before, but in early 2024 when they finally announced the release date of November 19th, they knew back then in early 2024 that they were probably in trouble and behind schedule.  If they were way ahead of schedule, they could have announced a release date of spring or summer of 2024.

I understand some are having more problems than others.  However, there appears to be far more that do agree with me.

I had a couple of serious bugs with 2020 that kept me out of the SIM for days - didn't stop it being an amazing SIM and an advancement over what we had before.

For the majority, who are experiencing minor bugs, 2024 is another big leap forward for flightsim. For those experiencing more major bugs, I would imagine most would still say it is an amazing SIM.

Are you on SU1 beta 2?  Many bugs are fixed and it looks absolutely stunning.

See, no sarcasm required.

I think it's important to counter those who want to paint 2024 as a failure, otherwise there will be simmers who will miss out on the glorious 2024.

Are they though? SteamDB numbers suggest otherwise and as we all know these Q&As are largely a marketing exercise, lots of Hot Air with empty statements to make themselves look good.

With all respect, why is sea traffic so important?  maybe some static in harbours but when you are in the air you hardly see any.

And there we are. I was wondering when somebody would step up to insinuate Asobo might be lying.

And as I said in my original post in this thread, people are going to believe what they want, and others are going to disagree.

I myself am not quite cynical enough (yet) to assume the people out there working hard to bring us the best sim we have ever had, with higher quality default planes than we have ever received before, with greater system depth than we ever previously experienced, with better graphics and greater underlying technology than we ever dreamed of acquiring, and with more updates more frequently and more in depth than we obtained in literally decades of previous sims, is out there with nothing better to do than randomly undermine their credibility by emitting falsehoods that can be fact checked with various levels of ease. Honestly, they don't actually have to bother talking to us much at all, much less to the extent they now do. (But then, we would complain about that)

*shrugs*

EDIT: By the way, it's been mentioned many times previously that Steam is not the end-all and be-all of MSFS numbers (Gamepass, Xbox, Mobile devices etc, and soon maybe even on Playstation) yet we keep disregarding that point.
