I can state for a fact it's the publisher, Microsoft, and their sales-related teams/executives who set the release dates and stick to them regardless of bugs, not the development studio, Asobo. I can state this for a fact because my brother's been a games developer for years, across all platforms, for various studios, working under various publishers (including Microsoft), and so I know this is how the industry works. And I see the stress this causes developers. It's quite rare that release dates get pushed back for extra development time. It seems most publishers are quite blinkered and don't think about reputation, they just think, well, the devs can just fix these problems and patch it later. Which is absolutely true, but it can be hard to recover from negative reviews of a launch state. First impressions...

We as users of course don't know anything for a fact, but what is more plausible? Jorg/Seb & co wanting to wait to release MSFS 2024 with less bugs and more polished per their liking, or the MS execs wanting to hold to the planned date? I'm going to lean heavily towards the latter outcome. A third possibility is that both MS execs and Jorg wanted to hold to the planned release date but Seb & Asobo wanted to wait. Given all what I know about Jorg by now, I don't think that's plausible either.. since he's way more of a passionate advocate of MSFS more aligned with Asobo, and invested in the success of MSFS as they are, than he is a MS bean counter only caring about the corporate bottom line across their entire portfolio of products and services.

Well..... We can spend time speculating, and create narratives that are to "our" liking or not, but to what end, exactly? Some will believe they know the "truth" and live in that reality, but others will disagree and have their own "truths" and we can crash the competing narratives together like Gomez Addams trains, to pass the time I guess, but....

Eh.

All i want to know is how fast they can stabilize this mess? My gut says late 2025 or early 2026. Everything else is just blah blah blah. On a more upbeat note, 2020 is running great with DLSS4. Never better. At least it was yesterday.

Having worked in the enterprise software industry for 30+ years (on the dev/engineering side) I can resoundingly say this execs/sales mindset is not confined to games only 😅

Yes good impressions, my gut says the same thing but quite frankly the average user on AVSim doesn't actually know for a 100% fact that is what happened.

Especially when you take into account Jorgs poor lead development overall in certain areas of the franchise, I would not be surprised if he had the last word and got it wrong, but again that's just a pure observation without any factual evidence, i.e. just an opinion which is exactly what everyone here has, an opinion on something but no hard factual evidence.

Now it's all about how long it takes to get to a position it should've been on release and, ultimately, whether or not they make money on this title, as that will be the key to their success going forward.

Speaking of which did they mention anything about SU16 in the Q&A? I'm more interested in that than when Martial decides it's time to fix simple VR mouse bugs because he has too...!

Well, in my case I completely dropped FS 2020 and moved to FS 2024.and I honestly don't look back other than to feel I took the best decision.

The amount of time I spend these days with the other 2 flightsims, if any, is negligible compared to the time I spend in FS 2024.

Also, since I engaged on Career mode I became kind of addicted to it, to the point of having decided to force and interval and play free mode for a while again before returning to it 😁

If this can somehow reflect a trend, from a long time simmer and rather critic guy then I believe a huge number of simmers is nowadays enjoying FS 2024 a lot more than most had precluded or expected...

Given that 2/3rd of the player base is using 2024, more people are flying career mode than free flight, and they have added 1.3 million new users, I’d say they did something right with 2024.

You can say that they are just lying, but at that point why bother discussing anything - just believe what you like and be happy.

El sim ahora se siente perfectamente estable.

No, it is not stable at all, I only had two CDT today, there are a lot of bugs, vram consumption errors, etc.

It doesn't have to be a lie what these numbers say, I see them as credible, the career mode, except as a curiosity, will only interest more casual players, those players are much less demanding than most Avsim users.

Would be nice if someone can post the main points covered in the session today. Apart from that .. not interested in the back and forth over player numbers and the doomsday vs cheerleeding stuff going on. As one person stated the only thing that matters at the moment is whats going to be fixed and when and whatever featuresets will be added and when.

Previous dev sessions someone was kind enough to give a synopsis. Anyone willing to do that i would be grateful.

Thank You

Personally i left 2020 when 2024 was released, never intending to go back. But the longer ive spent in fs24, the more i find broken, and ive found it pretty demoralsing. It was beginning to kill my love of flight simming. I reinstalled fs20 a couple weeks ago and im happy to stay on it until fs24 is in a condition that it doesnt make me want to turn my pc off. I have no doubt it will get there eventually.

Looks like WT will be working on ATC. First priority will be to address existing issues (around 30 open tickets) for SU2.. then longer term plan thru SU3 is to add new features.

I'll stick with BATC, it works now.
