I guess I'll just stay on 4K for now. I mostly use AIG anyway. Don't give up that easily. These days everything becomes complex for me... I'm tired and grumpy😁, yet... This morning at breakfast I read the thread here at the forum, finally understood that last step to convert the JSON file and it was really easy. I have watched and learned through some of your tutorials where your go through processes which are way more complex! My GPU is just 8GB VRAM, so, I had to go for it... I could probably be good with reducing it to 1024, but went with 512MB 😁 and it still looks great! EDIT: Just completed a full LPFR - LPPT flight with BATC and FSLTL 512 MB textures, and guys, for me honestly the AI textures look as good as they were when I was using default... And th whole folder is now 1.8 GB!!!! However once you read through them a couple of times and then just make a start and work through line by line it is not too bad. I use 1024 and find the visuals to be more than adequate. March 17, 20251 yr I found this guys tutorial on down scaling FSLTL models very easy to follow. Includes links to the apps you need also. Murray Dreyer
March 17, 20251 yr Does it also work on a heavy airport? For example, EDDF reduce it to 1024? Would I see a difference in the quality of the scene? I'd have to try it.

Yes, I believe you can use this method to reduce the texture files for airport sceneries as along as the textures are in *.dds format. It will not convert the *.ktx2 texture files used for native MSFS2024 sceneries (as far as I know). Yes....you need to test....I found some airports where textured starter flickering at resolutions below 2024 (FSDREAMTEAM LSZH, TNCM Airworthy design, etc.). But rarely. I reduced some heavy airport textures and found some who delivered 8k! That's reduced now Regards, Marcus P.
March 18, 20251 yr Allright, so I never actually attempted the FSLTL texture conversion. This might be a bit out of place since the topic is about FSLTL (I didn't want to start a new thread). But since I mostly use AIG (with BATC and FSHud), I decided to do a 4K vs 2K comparison. I basically did two AIG installations - one with 4K and another with 2K textures. Then I made a comparison: Fenix, iniBuilds EGLL, FSHud with max AI traffic settings. The difference is not huge. Avg FPS is pretty much the same (with my hardware) - but VRAM usage is about 0.5GB less with 2K. Having a closer look at the AI models - I think the difference is not huge, visually. 2K models look good enough IMO. Edited March 18, 20251 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
