For me, it's any time I try to change a setting and forget to drop out of VR first. It crashes when I try to exit the settings screen. Interesting. I only fly in VR and never have this problem. Might be a graphic setting or maybe depends on the VR headset. The only issue I ever had, was the mouse occationally would stop working, and all I had to do was exit out of VR and back in to fix it. I think this issue is now fixed, as it has not happend in a while, but never a CTD. May 6, 20251 yr MSFS 2024 is ahead of 2020 in numerous ways. No need to rehash this, since there are dozens of threads about this.. I would never go back to MSFS 2020.

The OP asked a question, and for the most part, got very reasonable answers. MSFS 2020 is still a great sim, and offers a great experience, it has matured with a good selection of aircraft. MSFS 2024 is the new sim more and hopefully, better features. People here are just commenting on their experiences, I like I have. Yes, this topic will likey turn into a 2020 vers 2024 debate again. This is going to happen regardless, when we are in a transition phase between sims. Out with the old and in with the new. As with all things, some will be early adopters, some with wait a bit, and some will wait till all the dust settles, the the last bit will move over kicking and screaming when the old system is no longer supported, working, etc. Human Nature when it comes to change. May 6, 20251 yr Echoing the whole you do you thing. It's perfectly common in all other facets of gaming – Farming Simulator 22 is just as popular as Farming Simulator 24 for the same reasons as here. More mods, better stability, people are used to it. Same thing with Forza Horizons – I much prefer 4 over 5. I don't see why the flight sim isn't going to be the same. I suppose the only unfair thing would be to expect devs to support their products into the future, but we won't be at that point for quite a while yet.

May 6, 20251 yr I don’t understand why some folks get so bent out of shape about these threads. There is literally no action required to just skip and move on to the next post. The drama is caused mainly because some folks will not allow themselves to ignore these posts. The guy asked a question, and that’s why this forum exists. Just my two cents. I use both sims, but after the last beta and release of the PMDG 777, I think I’m at a point where I’m going to start moving solely to MSFS 2024. I’m still going to keep 2020 installed for the foreseeable future, at least until almost everything is 2024 compatible. May 6, 20251 yr I did a flight with 2024 yesterday and I wondered if it was better than 2020. It was. I just felt the need to share that. Welcome to Avsim. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
May 6, 20251 yr Well I have been slowly attempting to configure 2024. Purchased Bijan seasons to try to control the over abundance of tree and rock trees. Purchased the 772 and was prepared to set up aig. But I am getting vram warnings just loading up the 777. So until Asobo gets around to fully fixing that issue it’s a no for me in terms of the type of flying I’m interested in. I also need a working traffic controller either from aig or fstl and none of them that I know of are working properly. May 6, 20251 yr MSFS 2024 is better. But take your time, dont let peer pressure affect your judgement. Gradually fly in MSFS 2024 until you find your own reasons to migrate. I have both, but helicopters in MSFS 2020 is inferior to 2024. So yeah, 2024 is slowly becoming my primary sim. I have XP12 which I bought as a respones to MSFS 2024 early release disappointment, and I havent tried their new update, but I doubt it will be a strong contender of 2024 (even 2020) Edited May 6, 20251 yr by History DA B760M PRO4 | i5-13400F | RTX 3060 12 GB | G.Skills Ripjaws 32GB | MSI MAG A550BN | Ace Power 1 TB NVMe | Cooler Master Hyper 212

I actually have both on my system but, with my dozens and dozens and dozens of add ons, Ive been sticking with 2020. I do 95% of my flight in the flight levels.... any reason to switch? Especially now that chaseplane is out... I am thinking no way! But of a rhetorical question... Do you NEED to move...? Certainly not. I WANTED to move due to the better physics, and yes, better graphics. So far, I've absolutely zero inclination to return to v2020.
May 6, 20251 yr Do what you want mate, if 2020 works fine continue using that, if 2024 may float your boat use that. Personally I've stepped away from 2024 for a little while as it's a mess (performance wise, VR) in the current beta and I have better things to do than to struggle with it's continually frustrating state of Early Access. Sure it'll get better eventually, but right now I get more smooth enjoyment from 2020 which did me just fine. 2024 is getting better, I reckon SU4 is when it'll truly be what it should've been at launch and that's when to dive into it fully for me. May 6, 20251 yr MSFS 2024 is rocksolid on both my pc’s. The sky looks better than default 2020 but not that much as MSFS 2020 + REX Atmos. Terrain looks better than MSFS 2020 and also better than when using the Map Enhancement mod with Latest Bing. The only thing I would like is to see better cloud shadows in MSFS 2024. Waiting for REX Atmos for MSFS 2024 and a few airports like FT Amsterdam Schiphol which need grass instead of green concrete 🥳 I guess that MSFS 2020 has had its longest time on the pc’s. May 6, 20251 yr Rough start of course but it is getting better, even with SU1. The trick is to follow the settings Nvidia recommandations for your hadware. Don't be too cocky, if you are not too greedy, msfs24 is really stable. Faster loading, better lights & atmosphere, better flight models. The Ini A320, A321 & A330 are really acceptable default aircraft. And of course, the fact that, accept it or not, msfs24 is the future as more & more devs will cross a line on msfs. msfs is still my sim of choice, but I spend more and more time with msfs24. Of course, not ready to delete msfs yet, but I'm sure by year end, I will spend more time on msfs24 rather than on msfs.
