When something is already excellent it becomes a serious challenge to make it obviously better. 2024 is not a 'new' sim at all, it's really a major upgrade to the old sim--it's the old sim with substantial improvements as are described. Was it worth the $120 to do the upgrade? Well, I can say it was 10x better than the upgrade I paid LM $200 for to go from v2 to v3 🙃 and another $200 to v4 in P3D! I can tell you despite the fact I bought 2024 in early Nov 2024 and just installed it 2 months ago I find myself spending now 90% of my time in it and that is w/o my favorite PMDG 737, just using default planes, and that is very telling. In terms of 'stability', it's identical to 2020 in my experience now of maybe 70 flights in 2024. I find weather/cloud depiction/lighting more like the RW than what 2020 offers, in a nutshell. But 2020 wasn't 'bad' at all. Aerosoft CRJs became compatible with their new V2 offering and it works great in 2024, thanks Aerosoft--I can highly recommend this plane for 2024. I just bought Fenix a320 for 2024 so looking forward to getting it up and running. To me, way overpriced, coming from FBW's free 320nx, but I know it's well loved so was anxious to get into something more than CRJ and the Longitude and Asobo 787. BATC, SLC and APL all work the same in 2024 as they do in 2024. May 7, 20251 yr At the point to leave 2020 and gone for 2024 with SU2 when it's out of beta and with my favorite aircraft all time 🙂 André

May 8, 20251 yr To the OP- I was in your position until the PMDG Beta where I had to make the switch. After a week, there was NO going back. I will grant you that 2024 offers moments of brilliance interspersed with many of bafflement and head scratching- but there’s no going back. I’m very much looking forward to the SU2 release… and even more SU5…. C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

The statement about the ten years was about the franchise, not MSFS (2020) specifically. Support for the first iteration of MSFS is supposed to extend until 2028: https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-flight-simulator-2020-has-15-million-unique-players-will-be-updated-until-2028/ https://readwrite.com/msfs2020-to-be-updated-until-2028 So going by your logic MS would break their promise when they discontinue the support in 2028, that's only eight years then, right? But of course support for its successor, MSFS 2024, will continue and by that time a 2028 version may already have been released, which will be supported longer than MSFS 2024. With their 'ten years' remark they promised commitment to this whole cycle of MSFS releases for at least a decade; they never specifically stated though there would be new versions for MSFS every couple of years.
