MSFS 24 SU2 released

Being part of the SU2 beta was not a negative experience for me.  From day one through two thirds of the beta I couldn't run SU2 successfully for more than a minute.  Often the sim would crash before I was in the cockpit.  However, as I understood what a beta was, I was able to post my issues to the official forum to help with the development.  The latest Nvidia driver sorted out many of my issues, and the last couple of SU's fixed the rest.  For the last third of SU2 I have enjoyed smooth flights - I have been particularly impressed with the weather and turbulence.  Landing used to be a given, but in the last couple of weeks I have had to go around in my GA aircraft due to an unstable approaches.

During the time I couldn't successfully use SU2, it only took 15 minutes to go back to SU1 for some flights, before diving back into SU2 for more testing (just another 15 minutes).

So your statement 'It still baffles me as to why you guys put yourselfs through all this' is projecting your personality type onto those who don't see the beta testing as a chore or stressful.  My blood pressure probably lowers due to the pleasure of joining in with the process of improving the hobby and sim I have used for years.

na, if ive paid for a product id like it to work, but whatever makes people happy i guess.

  • You're not, we are the silent majority who are happily flying instead of complaining in the forums, so it seems we are just a few.

It's funny reading the thread since I've already been on the beta hehe. I submitted quite a few bugs and I know others have to. SU2 is a good step in the right direction for msfs 2024.  It's

All smooth and loads quick now but main issues:

Liveries missing from aircraft selection they're still installed in the community folder and the A350 is missing as well.  What the?  Do I need to select something somewhere?

That's what I meant. I summarized this with "users can't land an airliner". And it is naive to assume that a majority of users is affected by this.

So there is a good chance, that you install 2024 and just fly as in 2020 without any issue.

Btw. how come you were part in the 2024 dev team from the beginning but you rely on assumptions and reports from others regarding this bug?

If you plan to buy the sim anyway at a later point, there is literally nothing you could loose if you buy right away and find out for yourself whether the sim is causing troubles for you (less likely) or not (much more likely).

You bear an opportunity cost, if you stick with a choice that potentially leaves you with the less enjoyable experience.

Sorry somehow wrong said, i was not on the dev team ( just a normaly hobbysimmer ) and meant my own way from the beginning of MSFS2020 until yet with doeing updates ect.ect.

And OK thanks for your viewpoint ( very welcome ) and i will see but i think i wait some more time to jump on MSFS2024, i just love MSFS2020 how the usage is now so i will see..

One Question: Do you have not this issue ? a lot people here complain what happens on or at landing coming from 500 feet ( or so ) down to the runways loosing almost all FPS for some time and than coming back somehow ???? )

cheers 😉

SU2 is a good step in the right direction for msfs 2024.  It's not rock solid but it brings vast improvements to performance, avionics, efb, ATC, and there one thing fixed I really liked - rotating beacons are finally visibile at night (broken since MSFS 2020).

Additionally on the painter side. The dynamic registration should be pretty fixed.  Just change it to what you want in the menu.  If you want nothing to show just backspace it out and press enter and it should not display over hand painted reg.

Still can't eliminate all the Helipad labels while keeping JUST the Airport labels.  Too much clutter.  I know there's a place when loading MSFS to uncheck Helipads, but that absolutely doesn't work.

For what it's worth,  I do not have this issue and never have had an issue like this.

I've also never experienced this. Might be one of those cases where a single post on a computer game forum made by someone who didn't quite understand the situation or what was causing it became widely established fact overnight.  One of those - 'A lot of people are saying ***insert 'fact' here***'

Can't even see the A350 in the content manager....

Anyways MSFS2020 runs great with the new NVIDIA drivers so smooth.

Keen to download MSFS2024 now that SU2 has landed but early feedback feels mixed.  I wonder if we'll see some sort of inevitable hotfix.

I had my first CTD's in ages last night. I reluctantly took the advice mentioned in the release notes and updated to the latest 576.40 Nvidia drivers. Still testing, but didn't get any CTD's after an hour on the new driver. Hopefully my experience in other games and on the Windows desktop is the same! The newer Nvidia App and drivers also finally allow you to set the DLSS Override model presets for super resolution and not just frame generation (i.e. you can use the Nvidia App to automatically do what the DLL switcher when using 30 series cards).

I have installed 2024 several times and always had major issues, so bad that I uninstalled each time. Finally this time no blurry scenery, no stutters, FPS locked to 30, TSS, looks great. Using updated 576.40 drivers. Had to reduce many graphic settings to get rid of annoying memory message, and also had to reduce resolution from 4k to 1440, but for me 2024 is sharper than with 2020 if set at similar resolution. Only problem is my 3080 running hot at 83c even with all the graphics reductions, and the silly walk-around still required at gate. Also poor state of AI aircraft. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to use AIG traffic due to the load already on graphics. So although I am sticking with 2020 for now, 2024 is staying installed this time. Light at end of tunnel.

What issues would the hotfix need to address?

Is MSFS2024 currently down? I've just updated to SU2 after not flying for a while, and I get an error that says it's trying to connect to my network, and requires a constant internet connection. I'm typing this post on my FS computer, which is currently connected to the Internet at 336Mbps!

Not here in the UK. I've been flying for 11 hours today.
