  • Software Development is oftent multi streamed. This SU3 has probably been in the wings for a few weeks now.  My take, -B

Not a bad thing actually.

Why, what's the problem?

For a moment I figured it was the map view with a Minecraft style look. I suppose it's a weather radar though...

Yes that's exactly what it is.

No thanks, I prefer to have my GPU locked at 60FPS with 40% usage , low temps and 110W consumption than at 120FPS with 99% usage, high temps and 240W consumption. My room is already hot enough and my electricity bill is already high enough.

YMMV though.

Sounds like driving a >300PS Porsche with speed limiter set to 40mph. But the world is already hot enough and the gas bill anyway high enough. So while I understand the reasoning, I yet wonder why not driving a smaller (and less expensive) car if you don’t use the 911‘s performance. But indeed YMMV. And yes, this is supposed to be a humorous answer in case someone does not know me 🙂

The comparison is not even that bad: if I would own a Porsche, it would be because I find them beautiful cars. Would not need to drive them more than 120km/h (anyway not allowed where I live) and I would be happy not to drive 300km/h and having a fuel consumption of 30L per 100km.

Or: most people owning fast cars never really use it to the max. They still own them 😉

BTW: if you are in SU3 Beta and download all those things, what happens to the downloaded content if you opt out of the Beta? Does it get deleted? And: what WILL happen, if the Beta gets updated and the update consists of changes that would affect downloaded files? Do they get updated? Or will it end up in a complete mess like those cache issues in MSFS2020? Sceptical about those downloads I am 😉

That is actually a good reason I buy into. Would happily drive a Porsche as well. But a graphics card …? Well… but back on topic please;-)

Nicked this from someone on discord and he's spot on;

They clearly don’t employ a dedicated test team, one that maintains a comprehensive regression test pack that gets updated with each release and executed before putting out the next release.

I'm reading about a lot of  regressions in SU3 which simply beggars belief, but it's totally not surprising with this bunch.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

I can only say that SU 2 made the sim more stable and beta SU 3 is even better :

my control boundings now remain while before they were gone after a restart.

Being able to DL places/sceneries:world updates will help people with low end pc’s.

And for me also very important : I do not see melted PG wheh flying over the inner city of Amsterdam ( 2 screens )

And icw AutoFPS the future of MSFS 2024 is starting to look better to me.

Were they really gone or did you, like myself, simply not get that you have to click once on «save as default» for them to stick? 🙈🤣

It really did not work.

I am very happy that it is saved now ) might have been a profile issue )

Major deception (what's new, really...).

Downloaded everything i could to SSD (around 330GB), but the same problems that really annoy me remain. I still cannot remove default liveries from planes, i cannot uninstall/hide/whatever default planes to declutter the horrible aircraft selection screen and the performance is the exact same - Very laggy UI, aircraft models take some time to render, etc. Don't waste time downloading anything, it changes nothing. Also, they insist on keeping data encrypted - Why oh why do they encrypt aircraft.cfg? What a dumb idea, let people manage their stuff please, stop imposing stuff!

When switching views it's frequent to see low resolution terrain which then re-renders itself (or whatever) to a higher resolution model, so having data on disk changed nothing in this aspect, it's the engine that causes this. Performance is still below what i have in MSFS with worse day lighting and terrible night environment even if i tried adjusting things. I am not a pilot nor do i travel a lot by air, but to me it looks more like a game whereas MSFS looks somewhat real, so, better.

The A310 which i love and use quite a lot in MSFS doesn't accept liveries i had painted and there's zero support from IniBuilds as this is a "microsoft product". I can scream all i want but obviously MS won't care at all, so this is a lost cause. I tried applying a hack i had to disable default liveries in MSFS, but MSFS2024 ignores that and still splashes all orbit airlines and white liveries on me. Thanks microsoft.

So yeah we can disable some stuff, but they still force us to have whatever they see fit and the way i want to use the simulator just isn't reflected in MSFS2024, not now and i honestly doublt it'll get any better. It seems to be nice if i want to fly low and slow and impersonate the life of a pilot during the day (night is just unbearable) but for whoever likes the good old school simulator... nah. It's just too game/xbox oriented nowadays which makes sense because all they want is $$.

Whoever likes 2024 have fun with it, i'll stick to the previous one and will monitor further updates. Maybe in 2026.

Hey Nuno, not good news then, and thanks for sharing because at least you saved me the time spent in downloading to my disk some of the default aircraft in the expectation that I could finally gain access to aircraft.cfg and fligth-dynamics.cfg 😕

Regarding the disabling of aircraft I did manage it through editing of Content.XML, at least for the default Beechcraft 350i which I replaced by a mod of the FS 2020 version.  Have you tried editing Content.XML and add "disabled" tags to the aircraft you don't want to see listed?
