It is illegal to not disclose that you are being paid to advertize something. Period. And YouTube has terms of service for content creators that make sure they abide by that law. So the reason why no one talks about it, is because it is all made up by him and others who think like him. Edited May 28, 20251 yr by Farlis
May 28, 20251 yr I have noticed that streamers are not consistent with applying "paid content". Even being given a free scenery needs the tag. That said, thinking streamers are making bank on this is interesting, Dave Nott had his angle, and also talks about some of the UK accounting laws. In the interest of full disclosure, Dave is a close personal friend before our flight sim days.

May 28, 20251 yr I think what has gotten some people going is the pre-release streamer hype for 2024 and the ini a350. Cpt Canada, who talked up 2024 as part of the Grand Canyon Spoils Conference doesn't even use it yet.

I know many streamers personally, and the usual agreement between a 3rd party developer and a streamer is either a comped copy or a review copy of the add on. There is a difference. Comped is free for life. Review copy is a time limited version of a fully working add on. Which one they get is dependent on several factors. Most developers have never paid for promotion. At least one has. This is evident by the use of watermarks of the dev name on the video or stream. At least one reviewer, who only reviews add ons on a website via a typed review, is employed full time by a publishing house and is paid a wage. It's well known in the flight sim community that Asobo have flown streamers and content creators from the US and Europe to Seattle, prior to the launch of MSFS, along with "greasing the wheels" with an agreement to stream MSFS content only. These streamers used to stream both MSFS and X-Plane. Other content creators, outside of flight simming have also been compensated monetarily or with hardware to promote MSFS. Jayz2cents, iJustine and Dr Disrespect are just 3 of them. Jay was given a complete PC system. I have to jump in and vouch for A330 driver, seeing as he made a video response. Along with every other content creator we've worked with, he's streamed our CL650, at least twice, and was given a comped CL650 for his time. The only condition we had, as with every other streamer, was that should he find anything wrong with it, that he would be objectively critical of the add on. No money ever exchanged hands. May 28, 20251 yr Flight sim content creator are no different then any other content creators. The best add on?? The latest trick set up, the unknown cure it all setting? Use common sense when watching ANY video. I9-14900K, Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX, RTX 4080, 32 ram.1 tb nvme M.2 SSD, MSFS 2020 on 2 tb nvme m.2 SSD
May 28, 20251 yr The video above i did not watch and probably will not. However, The ini A350 fawning videos and the MSFS grease the wheels pre release event made me write all of them off frankly. I only watch a video to observe and learn procedures and flows and will try to verify for myself a new product's features, bugs and showstoppers through interaction with the community and decide for myself if i should buy or not. The only content creator i will watch for general sim information is probably obsidian ant since he does not do reviews but pretty much just provides an informative overview of the current events in msfs Too many issues not reported when that A350 came out for me to trust any of them. May 28, 20251 yr I have a rather restrict list of streamers I follow. I believe they're impartial. Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
May 28, 20251 yr could the video owner in the original post be a little desperate for some yutube cash for content? I'm as guilty as everyone else for being here, but I'm surprised we're even discussing it 🙂
May 28, 20251 yr He uses that thumbnail and then spends the first part of the video complaining about clickbait???

I thought I would just share this because some wanna be big time streamer was ranting about this video in one of his streams because this is his job and pays his bills. If not for his rant I would not even know this video existed. Lastly I do now own this video LMAO. Edited May 28, 20251 yr by JBDB-MD80
May 28, 20251 yr Didn't watch the video but all I would say is that it's more likely possible in some instances where the reviewer may gloss over some negative aspects of the product they are reviewing in order to maintain a good relationship with a developer, especially a well established prolific one. I would also state that the idea of being objective in pointing out pros and cons in a review is very difficult and it's basically in the eye of the beholder. You can see that here with casual simmers who seem to be hyper-focused on, what I deem to be small, issues to such a level that they are incapable of enjoying the product. So when they see a review and get it, they then accuse the reviewer of bias because they did not focus on what they deemed to be important. *shrug*
