I really hope they finally find the cause of the deterioating performance when approaching short final or rolling on ground. It doesn't happen always but when it does it ruins everything. I just had a stall on touch down on Vatsim because the framedrops where so bad that I lost all sense of control.

This really needs to be fixed!

I agree.  As I stated in an earlier post, this problem is what keeps sending me back to MSFS 2020.  For me, flying the last approximately 500' AGL is never a smooth experience like the rest of the flight and many times severe stutters.

Turn on Dynamic Settings for butter smooth landings.

Thanks, I will give it a try but I need some additional direction.

Currently, Frame Generation is enabled (2X) and Max Rate is set to 40.  These settings had a major, positive effect on performance.  Before enabling these settings, MSFS 2024 was pretty much unusable.  Two questions:

  • Is there a conflict between Frame Generation and Dynamic Settings ?
  • Given the Frame Generation numbers, what Frame Rate Target do I use in Dynamic Settings ?

just coming back from a 3 days business trip, updated SU4 beta and fired up 2024. now in the Fenix EDDM-EDDK, veeery smooth. no problems, will even try to dial some sliders up...

just one observation which is probably well known by now: the navigraph simbrief addon for the 2024 EFB is broken, isn't it? it does not show anymore in my EFB?

Are you talking about native msfs 2024 efb? I don't know but Fenix efb works with simbrief flawlessly.

Did you have any problems with brakes when you switch from auto braking to the manual on during landing?

Dynamic settings simply reduces Levels of Detail to maintain the target frame rate. If you are getting smooth 40 fps as a max frame rate, dynamic settings will make sure (or try to, anyway) to hit that. Frame gen and dynamic settings are two different independent things, they don't affect each other.

Yes. The simbrief app for the MSFS EFB is broken, but Navigraph devs have already said that Asobo has fixed this in the next beta build (the next one to release). So it should be fixed soon.

Good to go.  It is some kind of Asobo magic sauce and I don't use external programs.

Not happening here and hasn't for a long time and that is in the most demanding settings and planes.

Instead of native Nvidia frame generation, try Nvidia Smooth Motion. It is turned on in the Nvidia app. You must turn FG OFF if SM is ON. I think it's more stable than FG.

In a Pimax braded VR  headset, they have Smart Smoothing which is sort of like the same thing only it works in VR. It used to cause issues but it now works fine for me. And Meta has ASW which is their version for VR.

OK, thanks.  I will give it a try.

ad 1 this is the Fenix EFB within the msfs2024 EFB, so you can pop up that Fenix EFB via TAB key (if that is the one mapped to the MSFS EFB)

ad 2 no, all fine but was just one quick flight so far, more to come today

CPU optimisations are definitely working, visually it's much smoother in VR and FPS seemingly has increased. But the take off/landing issues with tanking performance are still there, not as bad as SU3 but still bad enough to be a major issue.

With all due respect, guys.....you should not have to activate Dynamic Settings to maintain a smooth framerate through final approach and touchdown. I do not have that problem in MSFS 2020, and I certainly would not want to reduce image quality/level of detail to solve it.
