  • As can be seen through the annual Navigraph surveys, the vast, vast majority of simmers (that at least will do a survey) want the latest modern jet airliners only. A developer takes a risk with anythi

  • I just want a Vickers Viscount.

  • I really, really hope that JustFlight considers doing a Dash-8. It would fit perfectly in their current lineup and fill a huge void.

Shame Virtualcol is bringing a JS31-not study level, ugh!

Development – Virtualcol FS Software

Something Black Square would do tots better as would a JS41-but not planned by BS, alas still.

Are there realy so low interest in this types of aircrafts? The sim is getting flooded with jet airliners and military aircrafts, but still no high quality turboprop airliner. (Im not counting in the Asobo ATR, in my opinion its very lackluster in many things, like no simulated betarange, flightmodel is weird, etc...

It's occurred to me that these three readily qualify for High Fidelity turboprop flights (esp if we're missing systems like on the Q400 & ATR). The cool thing is none of these birds are afraid of getting their wheels dirty, either 😉.

The Transall 160 definitely fits the "classic" category, but still has all the airliner stuff:

Civilian cargo ops:

f-bufq-air-france-transall-c-160p_Planes

A little more modern, also with extensive civilian nav systems, the Blackbird Sims "Dirty 30":

And finally, a super modern turbo prop, and everyone on v2024 can jump into this right now:

While there are no civilian operators, the type is frequently used on humanitarian missions like disaster relief:

Just saw this a minute ago on the MSFS forum.  Freeware, been in development for over a year and they just released a new version in time for NY2026.  YMMV. TANSTAAFL. Blue skies,

In the last few hours of 2025 we managed to get v19.0.8 done and published - you can get it over here as usual.

    Quite a big change log:

    v19.0.8 CHANGE LOG

    • Implemented more realistic fuel mixture detent behaviour for auto-lean, auto-rich, and emergency full. Custom local variables for mixture levers are: L:B24CUSTOM_MIXTURE1_SET, L:B24CUSTOM_MIXTURE2_SET, L:B24CUSTOM_MIXTURE3_SET, L:B24CUSTOM_MIXTURE4_SET
    • Initial work on performance tuning as per B24 Flight Manual - not an exact match but closer than before. Further refinement to be done after Supercharger code is implemented in a future version. Thanks so much to jjbz for the invaluable help, expertise and testing here!
    • Opening cowl flaps will increase drag. As per the B24 Flight Manual this can result in a speed reduction of “eight-tenths of a mile per hour at cruising speed for each degree of cowl flap opening”. Note guidance for take-off is max 30% open.
    • Updated engine cooling parameters, proper usage of cowl flaps is required to manage temperatures (thanks to ftl818)
    • Reworked startup logic for better realism
    • Propeller animations (internal model)
    • Propeller animations (external model)
    • External sounds improvement
    • Minor tweaks to startup and low RPM sound volume curves
    • Added startup smoke
    • Sequenced CTRL+E auto-start to follow the real procedure
    • Slightly reduce yoke vibration
    • Basic shutdown prop animations to prevent sudden stop
    • Updated .FLT files for new logic
    • Engine status in EFB: Prime / Starter / Magneto / Combustion
    • Improved fuel system logic (thanks to jjbz)

Several of the above changes were made possible thanks to lmenes who kindly allowed for reuse / adaptation of code and logic from the excellent DUCKWORKS DC-3 mod. None of this was a simple copy-paste but reusing the same approach was a massive help.

And they did have dedicated People Mover variants, too:

You can still do that. Old timetables are available

Yes, absolutely true...especially these days with legacy (airline) routes information easily available on-line, even for defunct airlines...

Just this week, I was able to find old timetables (and routes) for e.g., Piedmont Airlines and Allegheny Airlines to fly a few realistic routes for the JF F28 twinjet...

No no I was sort of making a joke that a lot of simmers are more interested in correct variants and livery on a particular route than the enjoyment of flying the plane itself

...I seem to remember them wanting to bring the Jetstream 41 to P3D, but I do not recall them ever considering a version for MSFS 2020...

Chris:

I forget, but I recall someone here mentioning that he/she had asked about the MSFS JS41 possibility directly to Randazzo in one of the aviation events. The answer was the chance of that is not zero but not likely either...so, they might have considered it at one point.

During MSFS, the only time I attempted to revive my (old) FSX was for the JS41 (and the MD-11), but had to give up quickly, because I couldn't stand it...the SIM...

So they are planning to port their FS9 one to MSFS? 😂

I would certainly cherish a study level ATR. The ATR is the only "propliner" that's going to stay for the future.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Agree,  in the absence of the Majestic Q400 entrance into MSFS2020/24 I thought that maybe the Asobo ATR 42/72 might show some promise but it's still too buggy for any in depth realism and immersion, any updates seem to have ceased.

yeah I also was hopeful I would enjoy the ATR.  But it just seemed to modern and not polished for my preference.

Great plane that it was I think people would only fly it a handful of times at first then it would stay in the hanger, Dash 8 Q400 would be used alot

Maybe because Asobo modelled the -600. Was Blackbird going to develop the -500 one? That would have been interesting.

I'll be honest: I've just got the Carenado one for P3D last week, and I'm enjoying it more than the Asobo one. But the Carenado one is a -500, and both are equally as buggy...
