April 18Apr 18 Hello, I'm getting ready to migrate to MS2024 from 2020 and had read something in the past about msfs2024 recommending 64gb. That was before all the sim updates came along. Is that still the case? Given that memory prices are crazy now, was curious if I really need to upgrade now. My current system is: 13700k 32gb ddr5 rtx 4080 34 ultra wide gsync Thanks Bubba
April 18Apr 18 I run a lot of programs aside with flight sim, as-well as in VR. Sometimes I even program/code whilst running a long haul. Never felt the need to get more ram. 7800X3D 32GB DDR4 7800XT
April 18Apr 18 In my opinion, I would never "recommend" 64 gb. 32 is fine, 64 is what I would call a luxury. It can help with 1% lows and a few fringe performance cases but for almost all situations 32 is fine. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

April 18Apr 18 32 is fine. I ran 32 for ages. I have 64 GB now, but I would never buy at today's prices .. it made sense when I bought it. I really don't think you need more than 32 GB.. 16 GB would be a little low. Of course, if you can afford it, why not. It's nice to have. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

For me, especially with the streaming nature of MSFS 2024, 64 was a large difference to me... less stutters overall. April 18Apr 18 If RAM prices were the same as they were when I purchased my new PC in December, I would recommend upgrading to 64GB. However, the decision is not that simple now that RAM prices have shot through the roof. Personally, I would see how you go with 32GB before spending all of that cash. I was lucky, I did that right before the prices went up. I guess if you're reading this you are an enthusiast and all of us would like more than 32. So yes, for US go 64!! April 18Apr 18 32GB and zero issues. But, I run with ideal settings for my system with AutoFPS for a silky smooth experience. MSFS

April 18Apr 18 I too am a pretty much 100% VR user and use MSFS2024 and MSFS2020 multiplayer / FSHUD ATC with AIG live traffic / FS Realistic / Navigraph/ FSUIPC7 / Stream Deck + or, if it's a A320, the Wingflex FCU Cube: all running at the same time. The VR headset I use is the Pimax Crystal Light which is a pretty heavy hitter. For MSFS2024, I run DLSS Super Res on Quality, have volumetric clouds at ultra, TLOD at 300 , OLOD at 100. And, with tricks of the trade like the nVidia Apps' Smooth Motion, etc it's pin sharp in and out and stutter free. And I have 32Gb Would I like 64Gb to 'future proof'? Yes, of course So am I going to upgrade? No - not at the moment. No need. April 18Apr 18 While it might be different if I were a scenery developer or a painter like Ryan who has to have Photoshop (a real potential memory hog - yikes!) running at the same time as the sim, I have no issues with 2024 and 32GB. I do use some addons, like TrackIR, TDS GTNxi, Navigraph Simlink (though Charts runs on an external iPad), AutoFPS and FS ATC Chatter, but I've still never run remotely close to bumping into the 32GB limit in 2024. As others have noted, if memory was still cheap it's nice insurance. With today's costs however, unless you need to run other memory intensive apps at the same time, you'll be fine. I would say that 32GB is a minimum, however. No way would I want to run it in 16GB. Even 2020 tested that limit. Scott
