Hey guys, i have a small problem with ASCA and FSX: I use the theme "Global Automatic" to get the best variety into my simulator. It makes my Sim look so much better and I really like it. But everytime ASCA updates my theme i get some small lag spikes which, when i'm in cruise, are no problem at all. But when i'm on Final and the program decides it would be a good idea to update, this could lead to some small problems. Even though these lags only last for about 20 seconds. So my idea would be to add an option to the program, like in Active Sky, to prevent updates on approach. Please tell me your opinion to this and most important: Tell me if i missed something. Kind regards, Magiik

I'm a long time user of most of these products with the exception of EnvTex.. i've heard and seen good things from EnvTex.. My preference with p3dv3 was to use Rex Texture Direct for the ground/water and use ASCA + AS16 for the sky/clouds.. Now with p3dv4 at hand and fully installed.. i'm debating which route to take. Its my understanding that Rex Texture direct should work with a patch any day now (i assume this means install the old installer then patch it?).. and I have installed the beta for aspd and asca.. though i'm not clear on the aspd and asca if i need to purchase anything to keep them installed (IE: do they expire).. i had purchased the AS license awhile back for 16/asca. (i'm a huge fan of the dynamic cloud feature with ASCA, which i believe is the only product to do this on the fly?) Given all this.. i thought maybe looking at EnvTex is worth a shot, though if i can achieve similar looks without spending more then i'd rather avoid it for now, as there are other addons on my shopping list :) Also not sure, but it looks like EnvTex is sortof a patch job to get it running too... In general i've gone to the all add-on.xml route with folder separation from the main p3d folder.. hoping rex/envtex would adhere to this in some way, not sounding likely.. seems like they are replacing textures directly (unavoidable i guess though since its texture replacements, ala FTXG style). So in general unsure here.. any experiences so far.. or thoughts on EnvTex vs Rex (at least for the ground textures).. I assume they are all on par and maybe i should just wait for the rex patch (and skyforce 3D as well). It sounds like the sky textures and maybe the runway textures cant be beat with EnvTex.. so maybe EnvTex + ASCA + AS16 (clouds with AS).. Thanks in advance

All shots using Envtex presets coupled with ASCA and AS2016, using a PTA tweek downloaded from Envtex with a slight mod to Aircraft lighting to remove a too bright ambient light from the moon in the cockpit and not allowing Envtex to model Cumulus clouds. This is from P3D 3.41 with Orbx scenery. A short (very short) video here with the same effects over Zel Am See

Good Morning From WIII, I have read a lot about rex environment force and active sky along with active sky cloud art but I still don't understand the difference of them. Can anyone help me to explain the differences of them? I want to get a flying experience that has realistic weather such as weather changes, texture of rain water, wind texture, etc. It might look like it's late to buy among the three, but I'm trying to improve my game and try a more real environment.

Hi, before going further I'd like to say this is not a comparison of the graphic. Both enhance the texture enough for my taste. I'm using AS16 now and I'd like to ask how is it different when using AS16 + REX to when using AS16 + ASCA ? Are there any advantages when using ASCA with AS16 that REX doesn't support? And, AFAIK, ASCA is only the cloud texture while REX has cloud, sky, water...? Can all these 3 work together and does it affect the VAS a lot? (without HD textures if there are any). I'm using REX soft clouds now and I think I need something...better I guess. Thank you!

"Cannot control ambient weather parameters" error appears every time I connect p3d. I have done everything on this site : http://hifisupport.kayako.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/27/10/ambients-error-or-cannot-control-ambient-weather-parameters-error can any one suggest anything else? (And yes I have tried the un-install re-install... nothing is working) Many thanks James

Hey fellow pilots, im am using P3Dv5 with ASP3D, ASCA and Envtex. Sometimes i want to test some of the Visuals of Enhanced Atmospheric. 1. Now afaik if you switch EA on it automaticly disables ASCA. Regardless if it is running or not. Does this still show me proper EA or is there some sort of leftovers of ASCA stuff? Do i need to put ASCA and Envtex to a state of default (like the restore button) and than activate EA in order to have a proper setup. Or can i simply switch EA on and in later sessions off again to show me my proper ASCA-Envtex setup, without restoring. 2. How does Envtex performs with EA enabled. So there wont be any sky textures anymore nor any Clouds(ENVTEX) ??? But my Water and Airport Textures are still there Right ? thank you guys Cheers...

These are just stunning clouds from the ASCA software in 2k resolution combined with AS16 weather engine. Wish I could actually fly up into them but my aircraft is grounded because of VAS issues. But I can still take some nice screen caps of partial flights!
